Wagner PCV installed

I bought this thing a long time ago when I first started the build.  I finally got it adjusted and installed.

Re: Wagner PCV installed

What spec do you adjust it to?

Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

Re: Wagner PCV installed

The idle circuit is set to one full turn open for my vacuum at idle.    This Varys based on the vacuum at idle and their instructions guide you based on that reading.   The cruise circuit is then set with a vacuum gauge hooked to it.   It's set 3/4 CCW from finding 0 vacuum reading on the gauge.   You first turn it CW until you get vacuum then CCW to zero then 3/4 turn more.

Re: Wagner PCV installed

Ok
It has instructions and specific settings. Not trial and error.
Any difference in the way it runs?

Haven't had enough time to drive with either PCV installed.  I haven't even been over 3,000 rpm yet.

Suppose to cut down oil consumption and related issues with PCV's.   It's been a long time since I read the benefits of it but it was all good and had a lot of positive reviews on VMF, where I first learned of it.  Not they I ever had an issue with a PCV, I also never tried to match the correct on to my engine.

There's settings if your vacuum is super low or super high.   I was kind of in the middle range, closer to the lower settings.

Re: Wagner PCV installed

Mine is still collection dust on my workbench. Saving the oil right now on the wooden top of the bench.

Ya think it might cure the "auto shut-down" feature on the Heap?  Might have to try it...if I can find it.

Re: Wagner PCV installed

I noticed no real difference when I installed the Wagner PCV valve.  My vacuum was about 16-17 inches both prior to and after installing the Wagner.  I had a Holley 600 CFM carb at that time, and did not have an oil consumption problem.

I'm not saying you'll have oil consumption, was just trying to remember what were some of the benefits.  Maybe what I should have said was I don't know much about PCV setups and or how to pick the right one.  This seemed to simplify things and insure it was working like it should.  After all I went all out on everything else so why not this as well.

I should add I've never had an issue with anything I've ever built and just slapping in what ever PCV I had lying around.  I like what I read about the Wagner and figured why not try it.  At least I know it's setup the best way I could set it up, well according to Wagner I have.  Lol

Re: Wagner PCV installed

Do y'all remember ol' Rich (Red Boss 351)that was a member on here for years ?! (passed several years ago )
He once posted that there ARE indeed different PVCs for SBF engines. One size doesn't fit all(well...it will butt it shouldn't)
A PCV valve for a stocker  2-barrel 289 has a much different  vacuum signature than a Boss 302 (for instance) !  Yet the PCV will interchange with both.
I think a PCV for a boss 302 or HiPo 289 would be a better fit for a cammed-up/high(er) performance engine than just the first one Oh-Oh-Oh Rielly hands ya !
The kicker is.............Rich did the research and listed the PCV (part #) for the Hi-Po 289 .  Therefore...I forgot it !!
Prolly a little research of numbers would indicate the best PCV for your engine vs the high zoot Wagner nobodys tried...
