Power Master starter installed

I didn't think I would really need to upgrade the starter but I'm happy I did.  Big difference in turn over speed when starting.   Worth the upgrade.

Re: Power Master starter installed

That's from the design of the PMGR starter, not the brand.

Re: Power Master starter installed

Secret to a good starter.
Make sure engine starts within 1/2 revolution.

My OReilly OEM style has been working perfectly on the 427 for many years.  That is one of those mods nobody has ever been able to sell me on.

Not saying it is bad.  Just saying I never have had starter issues in any Mustang I ever owned.

I bought the top of the line replacement from the parts store.  It worked fine and I had always been hesitant on upgrading it.  But it's really night and day difference in how fast it runs over and starts.  I did a lot of searching and reading before I pulled the trigger.  Like the rest of my build it's been pretty much all in on everything.

Re: Power Master starter installed

My experience is the same as MS.  For my Mustang I used an OEM Ford starter that I purchased from a local rebuilder.  Not sure that it starts in 1/2 revolution, but it works well.

I can't explain how fast the car starts now.  It's really night and day difference.

Yep, there is probably a reason Ford changed.
