Does anyone know why I can't post a photo any more? The little icon to attach is gone. I am trying to post from an android phone using Firefox and in desktop mode on the forum.
This has only just stopped working for me.

I am experiencing the same thing. The icons to load a picture on my phone aren't there.

@Brian, Houston we have a problem.

This Forum would get more attention and Mustangsteve.com would get more business if there was a easier way to post pictures.

No Sheet. Why has posting photos on this website always been such an inconsistent PITA? Can we do a fundraiser to acquire a reliable system that works every time for everyone on every platform? I'm willing to put in $100 just so I know that I can easily post a picture whenever I want!
Brian - please take note!!!! Let's get this done!

I moved the NLOC over to Xenforo, it's really nice and has a lot of media, gallery, etc options

I'd be down for that too.

I have to make a payment every 6 months to keep the photos option alive, and I can't make it early. Despite setting a reminder, it has been difficult to time it so that there's no lag between outage and renewal. This is purely a function of the antiquated (not in a good way) forum. I am open to moving to a new platform if that is what everyone would like.

Well, I saw that the Upload icon is back so I tried to post a picture. I uploaded it, and IT STILL DOESN'T WORK! It won't load uploaded pictures from my computer. I can load them from my phone, but not my computer.

I just figured the picture option was down again and would be back up soon. Looks like it is.

We should all offer to pay once in a while or help in some way to make the site better.

Seems it is time to upgrade to a newer software program that allows for easier uploading of photos.
I have no knowledge in this area, and I agree with the sharing of any cost involved however, the cost of the upgrade needs to be identified before committing.

Right now I am using a hosting service for the NLOC forum, that cost was on top of the cost of the software. It now looks like there's a full "turnkey" service option starting at $60.00 per month. That's a really nice setup.

The thing we need to watch is what I think may have been a deal breaker in the past: whether or not we can move and integrate all our existing content.

Would you be willing to research this - keeping in mind the factors of migrating our original content, ease of posting pictures on all platforms and costs? Anyone else have any good informational input to this idea?

We tried to find a better forum platform that worked with more modern picture posting a few years back. Could not find one for reasonable price since most stuff is now on Facebook type format.
Bottom line: This type of form is a dying format.
I personally think a Facebook private group format would work better and encourage more participation from those needing help with Mustang stuff. We would have to police/moderate it just like I always did with this forum. Most facebook Mustang groups are populated by people with no clue. I think there is an opportunity for this group to migrate and change for the better. Those who are vehemently opposed to Facebook probably have only been exposed to the unregulated garbage that is so prevalent. There is an opportunity here to move this group forward.
Yes, there are some drawbacks like searchability, but if nobody is posting here or reading here, what good is it to have those features?
I think a properly moderated group on Facebook with vetting of all members would provide an opportunity to help more people with our knowledge base and help to promote the MustangSteve brand.

I'll post again about the NLOC and then I'll be quiet because I don't want anyone thinking I am trying to promote it ![]()
Here's what the Xenforo self hosted option looks like Xenforo also offers a cloud hosted setup now for $60/month. I am going to move to that.
I think a private FB group would be a great companion, that way people have both options. I did not make one as there's already a large Gen 1 Lightning group, but I do have an NLOC **business** FB page.

I agree 100%!

There is still an FYIFORD Facebook page, but I have turned it inactive. I do think it needs a new name though to better attract Mustangers to it. Brian is much better at that kind of stuff than I ever was, so maybe he can configure something that works.
Needs a title or subtitle like REAL ANSWERS TO CLASSIC MUSTANG HOW-TO QUESTIONS.
If you think you have made a lot of new friends here, where there are MAYBE ten posts a day, imagine what a bash turnout could happen with ten times that amount of posts daily. The reality is that the guys that need help with these cars are not finding an old format forum to get their answers.
We can make a bigger impact helping the inexperienced Mustang crowd with a different format. That is just the way it is.

MS, I'm with you on this. Facebook has gottten a lot of bad PR because of the garbage! I am the owner/Admin of a group page for the particular Side by side I own. We have about 2500 members. It is a private page and requires an admin or moderator to approve membership. We have very few issues because we run a tight ship! There was some discussion a while back about using a Facebook page for the Bash. One of the comments was about the page being private, I commented that its private to keep the garbage out! Being private only means you have to be approved to be in the group, I believe this is how this forum is???????? Best part of Facebook is its FREE FREE FREE

I don't have much to add other than its probably time to move it over.
I have been posting a bit on a Mustang forum and a Galaxie forum on facebook. While the Galaxie forum is great, the Mustang forum has several wise arses on there...hopefully if this move is made, vetting will take care of that.
It's been a great run but the only constant is change.

Greg, I would have hit LIKE on your post, but…IYKYK

If we can't migrate all the content is there a way to keep this forum around, even if just as a library which could be linked to the Facebook group? This way we maybe get the best of both worlds?

What I like about this MS Forum, is getting and offering assistance to members and the lack of bashing people who ask questions, and any foolish and silly bantering that I see on some Facebook sites. If switching this forum to Facebook could be controlled the same way this forum is controlled, I’m for it.
| REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
