    Buying a 70 parts car

    I'm not planning on starting the 70 fastback until next year.  It's bare shell project with no front clip or any interior.  This parts car is complete and has all of those parts and more that I need.  Hoping to pick it up this weekend.

    Excellent way to do it.

    Good luck.  My suggestion is to finish one car before starting work on the second.  

    65 Fastback, 351W, 5-speed, 4 wheel discs, 9" rear,  R&C Front End.

    Actually my car is done and his truck is done.  There's no plan to start the fastback project.  This parts car popped up and it's exactly what I will need for the fastback.  It's the only reason I'm going to pick it up.  The plan is to not work on it until next year, if I even start it then.  I do need to try and paint my truck.  At least the roof and hood. But other than that it's back to riding my bicycles and spending time with my wife.

    Sounds like a good plan.

    I had decided not to buy the parts car simply because I'm burnt out and just didn't want to deal with it.  On my way up to the NHRA Zmax races the seller sent me a message with a lower price I couldn't say no to.  I'll pick it up on my way home from the races.

    Just for entertainment, here's a picture of my son and his marine buddy at the races yesterday.  My son is on the left.  The gentleman in the middle is Scott.  He's the one I come to help at the races.

    He was worth all the work, no matter how much I complained about it.  Lol

    The races were great and my son, his marine buddy and his girlfriend were treated very well by the NHRA.

    Made it home this afternoon from the races.  Everything worked out very well today picking up the parts car on the way home.   The parts car has PDB, PS and AC.  It's a 302 automatic car.  Haven't had time to tear into it. I need to arrange the garage to fit both cars in the garage.  I might try to tear it down tomorrow for parts and scrap the body.

    The tires still have nipples on them.  The radiator is in the trunk and looks solid as does the condenser.  I'm thinking it was a running car and something failed on it so they parked it.  Someone started to dig into the problem.  I'm suspicious of a bad timing chain.

    Parts cars; there is always something that someone needs, finding that someone is not always successful.

    Most of the time I do pretty good selling off what I don't need. I tend to keep my asking price pretty low with the goal in mind that no matter what I'm ok with my current investment.   If I sell stuff then it's just a bonus.  Having all this little stuff is worth it. The fastback is a bare shell. 

    Front clip off and doors gutted and removed.  Motor is unbolted and ready to come out.   The AC still had pressure in it.

    AC huh? That'll bring some cash in. Those center dash vents go for $300- $400.

    It looks like a lot of good metal too.  People will pay for good original metal.  I'd sell all that was still good on eBay.  I noticed the shock towers aren't hacked up.  I'd always rather buy god original metal that reproduction and have concerns about fitment, the gauge of the new metal vs. the old, etc.

    Had no idea the vents were in the big of a demand. Crazy.

    The fenders are not rusted out and one headlight bucket still has the lower tab that always brakes off.  Doors are short and so is the rest of it.  But it has everything I need. 

    I did look up the PDB pedal assembly and they fetch a good penny too.
