Hey MS..........

The traction bars you have on your 66........are they homemade?
                                                                     what size are the sperical ends?
                                                                     Where did you get the parts?
                                                                      are they welded to the frame or how are they attached?
These will fit a 66 Mustang coupe with T-5 5.0 engine.

I have a page with all that info.  The bolts are 5/8" as are the bushing ID.  Disregard the bushing ID on the drawing.

I no longer have these on my car.  The Shelby design has the rear suspension always in a bind, limiting travel unless the spring is forced to wrap up.  It makes the car ride very stiff and choppy (You would probably like it)

I now have reverse eye, 4-1/2" Mustangs Plus leaf springs on the car.  Even with the torque of the 427, the wheels never hop.

I do not recommend these Shelby underride traction bars unless you can make them longer so the center to center length is the same as the axle centerline to front spring eye bolt centerline distance on your car.  The extra length would require a stiffer piece of tubing so it does not flex with the added length.

Bottom line...  Get some good springs and you will be alot happier.

I've been looking at these slapper bars that don't clamp to the springs.  Maybe they would ride better than the ones that clamp the springs in place (?)      $172 at Summit  http://www.summitracing.com/parts/lak-21602

That $172 is right about equal with the price of some new springs that eliminate the need for traction bars, plus they carry the load better and ride better.. And they don't look like "greasy kid stuff".

I have new rear springs(got'um from the Cork!)
I was just think'in about the cool factor associated with the traction master style bars. If it goofs the ride up......guess I'll pass.

Sal, I think MS just called my baby ugly.        Check these out...they're supposed to solve the ride issue.  They look like a lot of work to me, but you may have the time.

My son built a pair of cal-trac style bars for his sbc powered S10 pickup.  They greatly improved the wheel hop issues and did not ruin the ride.

Don't want to hijack but did'nt shelby use overide traction bars on the GT350's?
