'65 gas cap

Is the '65 gas cap originally a vented cap?  Does "vented" mean it lets pressure out and lets air in as fuel is displaced in the tank.  I have installed the FiTech EFI system and I don't want to collapse the tank. I see the valve in the cap that lets out pressure, but need to know if it works the other way also.  I can't see a way to install a vent/roll over valve in the system and get it higher than the fill pipe and be out of the trunk/passenger area. Thanks  Jerry

Re: '65 gas cap

I have a FiTech F/I  Still using the stock gas cap.  No problems.  I ran a vent line to the gas filler tube just under the gas cap in the trunk.  They say you can get by without one, but that means the  vent/return line vents down to the ground under the motor.  Not good.  No valve.

Since, I have installed a command center with a hard line to the rear.  Works great.

Re: '65 gas cap

I have a 67 coupe and put my relief valve in the right rear quarter panel extension. Stole the idea from someone on here. Don't have everything hooked up yet though. Just enough room for it to sit vertically.

Can anyone tell me if the gas cap on a '65 will let air back in the tank in addition to letting pressure out of the tank?  Thanks  Jerry

Re: '65 gas cap

Jerry, I have no direct experience, but I remember Bullet Bob having an issue with the tank building pressure and not venting out through the cap vent on his 66.

Re: '65 gas cap

Speaking of gas caps, what are everyone’s thoughts on these?
