66 mustang steering components

My 66 currently has the original PS system and that's coming out in favor of the borgsen system.

Best I can determine, I need to change the drag link to a manual version and also the DS outer tie rod. 
I've looked on Moog's site and they list the same part number for the passenger side regardless if it's PS or manual so I'm good with what I have already on that side.

If this is correct or if i'm missing something, please elaborate before i spend any of my hard earned retirement funds.

Mustangs Plus show the V8 manual right inner tie rods with the same part # as power.  Left side has different #'s.  Same  with outer tie rods.  Left side has different # for power.

Yeah, you've got it, inner and outer on one side ... keep your PS idler as well.
Hard earned? .... Weren't ja working for the government?

While manual steering uses the same outer tie rods for both sides you do not need to replace the existing left side power steering tie rod for the manual outer rod. They both are functioning the same for manual. The PS rod just had a dog leg to clear the ram. When I took my PS off my 66 and went manual I kept the PS outer tie rod. Why waste money?

The borgeson uses a manual center link. If you have a good drivers side power inner tie rod, adjusting sleeve and outer tie rod, you can reuse them, as long as used as a set.
The manual driver side tie rods have reversed threads than the power stuff. The manual tie rods will not fit into a power adjusting sleeve due to reversed threads.


Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

Huh!  Certainly did not know that.  Guess that's why I came here in the first place....to learn from the available wisdom.  I guess that's also why mine worked.  I just replaced the center link and kept the tie-rods.
