    Anyone purchased a repro rear bumper lately?

    I bent my 66 fastback rear bumper at the car show Sunday. Anyone know best quality available currently?  Or has anyone recently bought a good one?

    I got one from NPD for my 64.5 last year.  Looks good and fit well. No real complaints with it. When I was shopping for bumpers, the general consensus was that NPD’s were the best.

    How did you bend your bumper?  Or should we not ask?

    I'll second and third NPD nomination I bought front and rear. Ya, I know 66 and 69 are different. But the owner of NPD goes the extra mile for quality.

    I bought several fender patch panels a few years back and they  fit perfectly.

    I'm curious to know if the newer bumpers have the correct bend in them. Stuff I was lookin at 15 years ago didn't.

    Any chance it can be repaired?
    One of my biggest regrets is selling my original bumpers. They were damage free but needed to be rechromed.
    At the time I bought a set of “Nordan” repops at Carlisle, poor chrome, poor fit.
    How can a $100 dollar reproduction be as nice as a $900 rechromed original?
    I certainly hope that better bumpers are out there nowadays.

    I backed into a 58 Chevy show truck that was behind me in line. I should not take allergy medicine before driving. I never even saw the truck.

    Good idea. Will do!  I ordered an NPD rear bumper today.

    Just a note:   I found out my Grundy classic car insurance has zero deductible on collision!  They are paying for the new bumper and I will install it.

    That almost looks repairable.    Hydraulic press or bottle jack can be used to push out the pushed in part.
    Unless there's a sharp crease that I don't see.    Nothing to lose.

    The old bumper is a Nordan I bought in  1992. It was the last of the good bumpers that actually had the curve built into it so it followed the curvature of the back of the car. I am going to try and get it back into shape, but figured a brand new one in hand would give me something to install while I am working on it.  And hoping that MAYBE the new one from NPD is built correctly.

    You might want to get a quote from Bumper Boyz or Advanced Plating just for comparison.  Even if it just needs straightening they have the tools to do the job quickly.  I think with a picture and description you can get quotes over the interweb.

    Oh man... how did the Chevy guy handle that? I know it's annoying,  but stuff happens....

    Final result from Grundy classic car insurance.
    They reimbursed me for my new $149.50 bumper. I installed it.

    The guy with the Apache truck had s small ding in one of his bumperettes, and he also agreed to install it himself.  The bumperettes are under $90 a pair, shipped.  I got a letter from Grundy stating they paid him $580!!!! 

    And now, you have a good idea why your insurance costs so much.

    Nice "shivel-lay" truck. Obviously (by the looks of his bumper) he doesn't live on the beach!

    Was the guy ok to deal with? Did he take it all in his stride?
