Re: Don

All is in work,, seems that way anyway.  The major steel/welding has been completed. Installed new seat pans, inside risers and lower pan/frame supports. New passenger side rear frame support at shackle mounts. All rear interior parts repainted, 22 separate panels and trim.

Doing a aeronautical engineered  design of sound proofing. 25% coverage sound dampeners (limits panel vibrations),  then cover with a layer off mass loaded vinyl (blocks low freq) high dense foam (blocks high freq) glued to back side of vinyl. YES a pain in aaass making all this cover floors.  Then a NEW rug with more vinyl and Juke material as backing.

NOW that your wondering ,, what about heat,,  high heat paths (exhaust pipes) will be control by the damping material has a backing of foil.  All this is in work/development as install is ongoing.  Drove car as a empty shell and measured 85-87 dBn.  My goal is 72-75 dBn.  Example is new lux cars are 68 dBn.

Re: Don

Doesn't foam rubber hold water and cause future rust issues?

I suppose the sound deadener will make it impossible to hear the rust working?

Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

HA  both High Dense foam will absorb  but NOT like a spunge,, My thinking is after you pull the car out of the lake you have other problems more important .   Look up any sound BLOCKING material,, it's dense foam bonded to mass loaded vinyl
