Re: yikes have used them a lot

Yep
TKO predicted it.
CJ Pony parts will no longer be selling Mustang parts.  They say the market is changing to jeeps and trucks. I think it is at least in part to their decision to carry the cheapest line of Mustang pars they could find, not the best quality.

Re: yikes have used them a lot

I'm reminded of a scene from Gangs of New York when Bill Cutting (Daniel Day Lewis) is told by the Mayor that he's turning his back on the future.  He stops, turns, and says "Not our future".

Re: yikes have used them a lot

Recently I could have saved over 350 CDN by ordering total covertible top rebuild components from CJ.
I opted to get the parts from NPD knowing that I only wanted to do this job once and not fight with inferior made and fitting parts.
When I first got into this Mustang rabbit hole I got a lot of stuff from CJ, Creed Stammel co-owned and ranthe place. I can't pinpoint exactly when the quality and service  started to deteriorate but I gradually switched over to other shops, mostly NPD.
Rick Schmidt NPD owners son is a regular on another forum, he is an owner of Mustangs and very Mustang savey. a PM to him always makes things right, cost regardless.

Re: yikes have used them a lot

Last week I placed my first order with Kentucky Mustang parts. Thought I'd give them a try because they were close by so I'd have stuff in 1-2 days, they show the quantity on hand and free ship on orders over $50. The day I placed my order, my world turned upside down which required me to be out of town. I called and they changed the shipping address, followed up with me and I received an email from them when the package was delivered. As a result, I'll continue to give them my business. I do use NPD but its not my first choice....it is good though to still have options.

Re: yikes have used them a lot

NPD will continue getting my business.  I've found a handful of NOS parts for my '89 GT there, all at reasonable prices.  I was using Mustangs Unlimited, which is now defunct, due to them being 1 day shipping away.  I hadn't really used CJ in years.  I used them a lot when I first bought and restored my car (close on to 30 years ago now) and like Rudi said, the quality back then was great.  I used to make big purchases from them at the Atlantic City Car Show each year to save shipping costs.  Lancaster Mustang was another one close by, also now defunct.  They were only about 40 minutes from my house, and had a showroom with weekend hours.

Frankly, with as hot as the Fox cars are now I think any company that doesn't just pivot into that is foolish.  LMR and American Muscle are killing it with '79-up Mustangs right now.  Those cars are where my '67 was when I first bought it.  They'll drive the hobby for a long time yet to come.  Quality on those parts is also hit or miss (yep, Scott Drake got into that market too).  I've bought a lot of NOS stuff because of that, and always look for reviews, etc. when I have to buy aftermarket.

Re: yikes have used them a lot

Ky Mustang is only about 45 minutes from me, and they get all of my business, but because of their business practices, not location. Their customer service has always been fantastic. They are truly a family owned and ran company. Duane and his wife and son's. I think there's about 6-7 people that work there and at least 4 of them are family.

The big thing for me is they also turn wrenches and build Mustangs. Like all company's they have some lines they sell that are better than others, and they are always quick to let you know if they have experienced fit issues with a certain brand or part, and what helpful hints they have for getting around the issue, if a better part is not available.

With the craziness the country is facing right now, these are the company's we must support.

Re: yikes have used them a lot

I have had zero problems with CJPP. A package from them arrived yesterday. I utilized their free shipping so the package must have gone back to China and then to OZ and finally here. 7 days, but it was free shipping so I'm good.
