Bash 2021 discussion plans

As we all sit in shock and total dismay at how our might nation was stopped and brought down for a short time. Reducing us to face masked bandits. Every weird step forward is something out of the Twilight Zone.
Moving forward. Stay safe. Cough into your sleeve. Wash your hands 50+ times a day for 30+ seconds each time. Use lotion because now your hands are dried out prunes
The shining light at the end of the tunnel.
Plans need to start for 2021 Bash in Texas. Texas, where not everyone enjoys the heat, the sweating, the rain, the tornados. Anna and my life is such that we can host this awesome event pretty much anytime next year. What dates are the "Hard NO's" for people and what times can we agree on that maximize people being able to show up without cooking them with Texas weather.
Plan is to host in the town of Rockwall Texas area. It is on a fairly large lake, lots of hotels to work with. Problem is the getting the venue set up on City Parks. Anna and I live in the country and can't request them because we don't live in the city limits, so I have to get a friend to set up for us. I need to get with previous people that hosted events and see how they approached city councils on this type of event. At this point, any money coming into a city should be welcomed with open arms.

Whaddya thunk?

Re: Bash 2021 discussion plans

Well, I'll come no matter when it is but OUR preference would be toward Sept.  Maybe late Aug. but not June or July due to the heat and hum-damned-didity.  Beyond the end of Oct. we can easily get into snowy mountain roads getting home so we would have to stay the winter with Anna and you.
Can't help you with the city, Ed.  We were so lucky here. I just called up the  lady that runs the Recreation Dept and asked if I could reserve that park we used.  Gave here $145 deposit for cleaning the clubhouse afterward if necessary and it was done.  Got my $145 back after the Bash.  Only thing she mentioned ahead of time was for us to not have any cars parked on the grass.
I sent all the files for the various forms we made up to Corky in '17, he may still have that stuff or I probably do if you need ideas.

Wish I could help more.

Sadly, I don't think we'll be able to make it.  Damn China

Although we would love to be out of here in February....unless we use the Kia.
August-September would work.

Re: Bash 2021 discussion plans

Anytime is good for us Ed. Please let me know if I can help with any of your planning.  We were able to reserve the pavilion in town but it cost $150 because we live outside city limits.  We do have the "Banner" so let me know if you need me to send it in advance or if we can just bring it along.

Don't tell him that!  They'll have it in December when it's cool in Texas and Bakersfield and I have two feet of snow to contend with.

Re: Bash 2021 discussion plans

May sounds good to Anna and I. If next May is anything like this year's May, very cool evenings and warm days. But we do have spring storms that can play havoc with some cars.

Re: Bash 2021 discussion plans

I'll do what I can to make it.

Late August/early September aren't hard no, but are hard because I'll likely be doing a mission trip again next year (was planned for this year, but canceled).  That would be Late July to early August.  Taking more time off in that same window, with business in full swing is going to be nearly impossible, then it jams right up against back to school for the kids.  Depending on what happens with the baseball season next year June/July are probably out as well due to playoffs and all stars.

The planned April time frame for this past year was pretty good.  May would be fine too, as well as any time in the winter where I can escape to a nicer climate...

Re: Bash 2021 discussion plans

Being an old retired guy now - most any time is okay, but I lean towards that September date. A flight to DFW would be great so I could use my Alaska Airlines retirement flight privileges that I worked 36 years for! I was there for BB #1 in Carrolton in July, and this old Seattle boy remembers that Texas heat and humidity then, and he says No Thanks!

Of course not...you don't have to drive over snow packed and icy 10000 foor + passes to get home.
Oh hell, while I am at it I'll just go ahead and convert it to four wheel drive.
