Dealing with a 67 Coupe.
I installed relays with the new wiring, so that part is good. I bought the Halogen sealed beam headlights to get it on the road. I replaced one of those on the way to Michigan in the hotel parking lot. The other one has a crack going across it too and doesn't shine very far!! At $20 to $25 each, I'm making good progress towards a headlight upgrade. What are yall using? It would be great is there is something like the newer cars that will take a replacement build and I don't have to worry about them cracking from a rock. I have no desire to cut up the buckets to make something fit either.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Mine are Tri-Bar housings with H4 halogen bulbs, relay operated. I thought about LED aftermarket replacement bulbs but there does not seem to enough room behind the shell for them.
With the original wiring I was getting about 11 volts at the bulb, with the new AAW harness and relays I get the alternator voltage. They are more than adequate. I don't know what the answer is for wet roads at night, even the LED's on my Nautalus don't impress me.

i have Cibie replacement lights from Amazon on my 65, with "Marsauto H4/9003 LED Headlight Bulbs, 1200LM 6000K White"
I have had Cibies years ago when we all ran halogen lamps. I am pleasantly pleased with these

Cibie. Had them for 25 years, and no deterioration of the light. Look like original. I'm not a fan of the flatter lights. Can't seem to find them here anymore, so the 67 is using cheap sealed beams until I do. 100/55w bulbs.

I read that the LED headlights do not generate enough heat to keep them from icing up in bad winter driving conditions. The Halogen bulbs generate lots of heat as do the old standard bulbs. I understand that modern cars have heated LED headlights to combat this icing issue.
For us, I think the Halogen bulbs are better.

If I'm driving my classic mustang in winter conditions, LED headlights icing up are the least of my worries...

50vert, I first installed these Cibies with there 50/60 halogen bulbs and the pattern was just like the old ones. I wanted the white light of the LED so I started my quest for LEDs that would work. It took 4 sets each time going up in price and quality, sending the others back to Amazon. That's when I ended up with the ones I have now. Another light that we did in my nefue jeep are a good buy on Amazon are the SUNPIE or the COWONE in chrome. Both under $100. a pair. I don't care for the look but they are by far the best lights I have seen in years for the price. I just don't care for the look in a classic.

Josh - I'm right there with ya. The only icing issues the jalopy will have to worry about will be coming from the AC vents!!!

Not a fan of LEDs in a classic. I'm using Silver Stars made by Sylvania I got at the local auto parts store. 2-3 times as bright as the OEM lights. The headlights in my 67 are as bright or brighter than the rest of the vehicles in my fleet, three of which are mid '00s vehicles.

I have the same ones with Halogen H4 bulbs. Haven't driven the car at night (or even in the day time yet) but I like the way they look and the do a good job illuminating a dark garage.

I always wondered what happened to Mr Tim. Did I miss something? He was a regular back in the days of Bo Stang and BILLY WALTON.

I think I bought a no-name set of headlights off Ebay. It was a number of years ago now. I still remember taking it for a night drive after swapping out the old sealed beams and man, what a difference!! Before the halogens, it was kind of like driving with two candles.
I do want to get a better set though, because the lenses seem to be a bit dull looking when I look at the front of the car.

I think you described my headlights. They are flat and do not seem to have that crystal clear look of the old sealed beams. Thanks for posting this.
