If it's got a longer slot in the bracket that allows the lever to move forward farther, I agree with you!

If you shorten the rear line to calipers will help too.
Where it is in your first picture, the arm is getting closer to parallel to crossmember and this will allow the arm to slide out of the notch.
The deeper Center notch will help too.
Definitely shorten the rear cable.
