Those of you who attended our Bash in 2016 will recall my friend, Ted Carder, who set up a wonderful display of his model machining handiwork. I'm very sorry to have to report that Ted passed away yesterday morning from complications with an abdominal aneurysm, he was 96. He served in the Army from 1943 to 1945, was captured at the Battle of the Bulge and spent the last few months of WWII in a German POW camp. He was a fantastic machinist, a competitive pistol shooter and a great friend who taught me much. He will be sorely missed by all who had the great good luck of knowing him.

Aww Bob, I'm sorry to hear that. I met him once on my way home from the 2018 Bash when he did some machine work for me. He wouldn't take a nickle from me for the work he did that day. The world needs more guys like him, not less.

Sorry for the loss of your friend, Bob. And so we lose another of the "Greatest Generation". Rejoice in the fact that he lived a long and eventful life and enjoy the memories that you and he shared.

My condolences to you and his family Bob. I can see from the locomotive and the steam engines displayed that Ted was quite a craftsman. I can really appreciate the skill levels involved in those types of projects.
It’s a crying shame that his friendship as well as knowledge and skill is also lost.

Sorry to hear that BB, sounds like a great guy. Sadly so few of the WWII generation are left. We lost our most senior congregant at church a couple weeks back. He was 101. Time unfortunately catches us all. Its the only adversary not subject to casualties.
