Re: Going to add the vert inner rockers and seat pan to my 66 coupe

Thanks.

Made the trip to NPD yesterday with my son and exchanged the parts that I had over ordered for a new drivers side door.  Then we stopped at Big Daddy Don Garlits museum.  It was a fun trip.

Re: Going to add the vert inner rockers and seat pan to my 66 coupe

My old computer died on me last night but luckily I have a spare.  They are old and slow computers but I bought two of them from my old real estate office for $100 about four years ago so I think I got my moneys worth.

It looks like I can now post pictures again.  I did figure out how to from my phone, just had to select desk top option.

Anyways, here's a few pictures of the vert inner rocker project. online image uploader

Looking good. I bet you can't wait to drill all those plug weld holes

I actually have half of them done on the passenger side but yes its a boring job.  The weather is cool today so I hope to prep the inner rockers and coat with the eastwood product and prep the welding areas.  If all goes well maybe weld them in this weekend.

I also want to prep the firewall for the HB and drill the needed mounting holes and see how it all fits.

Re: Going to add the vert inner rockers and seat pan to my 66 coupe

I have the floor pan installed, inner rockers prepped/drilled and ready to be welded in.  I stopped at this point to give myself time to think about where I am at and make sure I'm ready to weld the floor and the inner rockers in place tomorrow.  I've decided to go ahead and weld the floor in before sand blasting.  i will seam seal the floor after it's welded in place and plug all the holes to keep sand out of places it doesn't belong.  The car doesn't need a lot of blasting.

Nice work. I remember the process well. Good thing is you sleep well after all that hard work.

Re: Going to add the vert inner rockers and seat pan to my 66 coupe

The vert inner rockers and floor pan are welded in.  Sunday I started to weld everything in then I ran out of mig wire, so I finished it all up Tuesday.   I want to stitch weld underneath and hope to have that welding down this weekend.

It's nice after a couple of years with no floor to actually see a floor again.  It just makes the car feel more rigid.  plus it helps bring back some motivation to get going on it again.  We also hung the new drivers door but we still need to fit the door glass and hardware in the new door.  I've heard the vent window may be tricky to get right with the after market door.

Nothing warms the cockles of my heart more than seeing a nice new floor in an old Mustang.

Its warming just seeing it come together.  lol

Last Friday I was able to stitch weld the under side of the floor and on the following Saturday I was able to patch the front of the outer rocker below the door.  I started on the passenger side but ran out of energy.   I also installed the rear seat divider which I cut down to fit in the step down area of the rear seat panels.  I'm still trying to get some one local to roll a few beads in the panel for strength.

Re: Going to add the vert inner rockers and seat pan to my 66 coupe

Thinking about adding the vert pans that go under the floor pan.   I made the Daze subframe connectors so I would have to slice the vert lower pans to fit around the frame connectors.   I would weld the pans to the frame connectors and of course to the floor pan.  I think this would really tie it all together making it pretty strong.

Re: Going to add the vert inner rockers and seat pan to my 66 coupe

I like your rear divider.  The idea of making it secure but removeable.   The biggest reason to hear roll it would be vibrational noise.   Now that you have put those inner rockers in you can put in a convertible seat riser.  And if you are going to do the top...looks really good!

If multiple things can go wrong, the one that will go wrong will be the one that causes the most damage.

Thanks.  I’m trying to find someone to roll beads in the divider to stiffen it up.  I also plan on welding up the smaller openings in the seat stay panels.  I have the convertible seat riser but I didn’t buy the pans that go underneath the floor.
