Gotta really cool e-mail from Bearing Bob and..........

it was my old drag strip in upstate SC where I went to high skool!
Musta been 'west-coast-kismitt' or sump'in.....
He had no idea I had ever been there....he just wanted me to see this bad-a$$ A/Gasser he found on the tube.
In the interview the guy Jimmy refers to Gene Cromer (a legend in South East Gassers -oh no I used a word I shouldn't have-.) about racing his Mustang. I use to watch this guy Gene 50+ years ago at this same strip!

Gene(in his 80's now) raced a 41 Willys with a 427 FE engine back in the mid-60's.........I looked at the bottom of that Willys many/many times in 2nd gear!
This was/is a tiny/narrow drag strip even by 60's standards. Only thing between spectators and the cars going by(on 2 wheels a lot of times)...was a chain link fence. Just a steel cable if you paid $1 more and went on the pit-side!!
2 cars side-by-side....standing up ON THE REAR BUMPER! with a flagman in between them and teenage guys lined up half way down a 1/4 mile strip!!
We honestly had to squint our eyes or turn our heads when they went by for the dust,(rosin dust)exhaust, tire smoke, and sometimes clutch dust and nitro fumes blowing by!
A miracle half  the kids my age even survived because there was no 'serious' accident. (we're not even gonna talk about everybody-EVERYBODY had a cigarette hanging and beer drinking age was 18.........so therefore 16 year olds were drinking)
Baby Boomer memories...........
Thanx for the video Bob!!
