This add for a 1967 289 sparked my interest. 1. It could be original and never rebuilt. 2. it looks like it has K-Code manifolds on it. Granted, the manifolds could have been installed later. The seller says he kept manifolds, carb etc.
I'm thinking I just have to go have a looksee and pull a valve cover.

Save your gas and high hopes.. Ad sez the engine includes the TWO BARREL carb.
Hi-Po 289 K-code engines didn't have two barrels. SORRY!!
Offer a hunderd bux!

I must have missed the 2V carb, but after rereading the add I see it. The manifolds had my attention. I still may go see it and offer 100-200 for the remains. Early unmolested blocks are hard to come by. Of course the only way to check for molest is to pop a head.

Better off locating a 5.0 roller engine and hanging onto it as a future replacement...

My thoughts exactly.

I have a unmolested roller 5.0. I just really love the little 289. Don't know why though.

You can always put the 289 valve covers and other parts on a 302 to disguise it.

Cuz they were cool little revving machines, that's why.

If the manifolds are included then it may be worth making an offer.

REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
