Hey guys, as I've been making my way through the car I've had a couple questions developing in my mind about what I should do with my rear quarters on my 66. Both panels fit the car amazingly well and besides being rusted along the flares against the wheel wells they are in really good shape. As much as i know that replacing them is the proper option I just feel that it would be a shame to remove the whole panel over such a small area of damage. I've been considering flaring the rear panels and I was wondering what everyone thought about just creating flares that would remove the rusted section of the panel instead of full skins. Any other suggestions would also be amazing in helping me along with this project as I am still in high school and so my time and budget aren't as open as I'd like.

Hi everyone, I know this is not quite the right section to be posting this but I figured it would be the quickest way to find out. I was just curious if anyone had some used or even newer stock height leaf springs that they were getting rid of for one reason or another for a 65-66 mustang. This is our father son budget build. Any help in finding gently used and gently priced parts would be greatly appreciated. Anything would be better than the current leaf springs we have. Budget is tight, but let me know if you have some for a reasonable price.

Hey guys I've finally gotten my floors all welded in and the next project I'm looking to take on is a disc brake conversion for thee front. I've been reading up and I think I'm going to be using the CSRP disc brake conversion so that I can keep my fathers old wheels on it. I've heard some talk of using Mustang Steve's brake booster with this setup and I was curious as to why some people have been doing this and what the benefits are over using the CSRP brake booster. If there are any other disc brake kits that you guys could also recommend to look at before I make any final purchases that would be great!

So I’ve continued work on my 66 coupe and I’ve started patching in panels on the car, my dilemma though is that I was originally going to just work on the car one section at a time covering it with epoxy primer as I finished each area, but I’ve been reading that you can’t use body filler over epoxy primer or that epoxy has to be the first thing on the car. This would be ok if the car could stay inside but I have to keep it outside and winters headed here pretty soon. Since this is the case I am just looking for a straight answer on what I can put over epoxy and if it’s even the best thing to be using as i patch my car

This has been very helpful, but there are places were the panel will be over lapping up to 2-2.5 inches. Should i be concerned and trim the panel down to a one inch overlap all the way around, or is it okay to leave the overlaps as is in those places.

Thank you to everyone who responded. The car is almost ready to have floors welded in, but we want to make sure we know all the last minute things are done. Our main concern is the over lap of the new and original metal, and if there are any problems with having more overlap for structural support. We have seen that most people have around an inch or so of overlap, but the metal seems to be clean and strong down for around another inch and a half. If we can we would like to be able to over lap as much as possible to make sure the floors have a strong structure.

Hi everyone, I'm 14 and currently working with my dad on a 66 mustang restoration, and were currently getting ready to do a floor pan replacement. We have a couple concerns though and don't want to start cutting until we know for sure. My main question is should we pull the gas tank before we start. The car is down to about a gallon of gas and is already up in the air and leveled out. All interior components are removed, and we cut a steel divider that is currently in the place of the rear seat back. If there's anything else we should do before we start cutting out the floor, then please let me know.

I  have a 66 mustang that currently has drum brakes all around. I am planning to upgrade to disk brakes in the future, but my current single bowl master cylinder is bad. Can I use a dual bowl master cylinder with the drum brakes on my car, or are there any potential problems with a dual bowl system running with drum brakes. Thanks for any help you can give.

I am trying to convince myself to make the transition from my old Meaty BFgoodrich tires on 14s (I know don't laugh) that are completely worn out  to 17s.  I actually prefer the look of more tire I think 16 would be a good compromise, but I keep hearing that the 17 fits better because of the ball joint and that finding tires is more difficult.

Does anybody have these wheels?  It seems like I remembered someone saying that the chrome was kind of cheap, but I may be mistaken. I am thinking about getting these in either 16 or 17.
I beleive the consensus is 17x7 front and 17x8 back  4.75 inch backspacing, but I noticed that Mustang Steve said he had 4.75 and was adding a spacer.  
The ad says 4 inch bs,


I guess they have to be cutom ordered.  It seems they would carry the ones with  backspacing that even they recommend in their own tech articles.  
At any rate please let me know your thoughts on these if you can please.

66 coupe, Stainless Steel Disk Brakes front, Drums rear, hoping to put disks in back eventually.
