I haven't seen a Bitchin Photos thread since I've been around. Admittedly, it hasn't been long so flame me for starting another one.
I love this photo. A bit painful, but it's an awesome pic. 3am in Goshen, about halfway to the Bako bash in an untested car. Intermittent miss (brown wire I think) carb problems and charging system/alternator problems. Had MS been along he would have let me have both barrels. Fortunately RPM and Lt. Dan were kind enough to try and rescue me. Car fought us ever which way. Bob leaning over my winder, Lt. Dan on the shutter. Love this pic. high quality png free download

There was a 360 FE .030 over for $50. Didn't need or want it, but felt like I had to buy it. Gonna need a rack system for all these damn motors.

I keep my eye out pretty consistently for 351/5.8 short blocks and long blocks and that one (if true stats) sounds like a great find. You might bore scope it to be sure. But if it really is stock bore and low mileage, a roller motor, it is a pearl. Around here roller 5.8s are pretty rare and usually north of $750 and not one of the ones I've seen was low miles/original install. What's it worth? Around here it'd probably fetch $1000. Hard to say.
The non roller 351 block in my fastback now displaces 422ci and it was a $200 short block. The NR 5.8 in my son's Bronco was already .030 over so I found a $100 high mileage NR 5.8 out of an F-150 that we built. It's now .030 over and running in the Bronco. The takeout .030 that seemed a lost cause cleaned up at .040 so it's going to get a 4" crank and some nice bits. Wish it were a roller.

Yeah, I didn't know what to call the duck tail rear end. That is definitely a polarity feature. Love or hate, I doubt there is much in between. I do wonder if a mini duck tail treatment would be more aesthetically fitting for the '65 body. Maybe. Again, buyer/builder's privilege but it might not sail at resale time.
Let's say you sunk $40k plus into a build but did not bother much at all with some fairly easy things. Take the wheels/tires/stance for example. Does that make sense? Those have a huge effect on the car's appeal and don't add up to much money relative to the entire build. The style of wheel is probably not the issue, the front wheel/tire fitment in the wheel well is OK but those rears are a big miss as is the overall stance.
I think stance is a huge factor in the overall appeal of the car. It just seems unfinished with the stickout and "hi jacker" rear end height.
Very very nice car - wonder if it will sell.

About as simple as it gets. Magna reverse eye springs, nothing else. (Yes, it now has a driveline and shocks. Basic KYB gas shocks.) Smokes 'em for days. Pulled up the other night and my across the street neighbor couple were doing yardwork and Megan called out "burnout?" So, I obliged her. Hardly takes any encouragement. Not sure the other neighbors are as supportive.

Beautiful over restored/modified 1965 coupe for sale at $42,000. Not sure I'd go that high on a coupe but it has all the bells and whistles. I'm sure RPM would suggest removing the big rear sway bar but other than that, what do all y'all think?
I have no connection on this thing but we all know it takes hundreds of hours and stacks of cash to get one to this beautifully finished stage. I'm thinking that she is well done.
However, the stance needs some work, the rear wheel stick out is an issue, the color is a bit of a wild card and some of the choices like body color engine bay, chrome battery cover, chrome engine bay hardware and 66 grille are a touch on the custom side. Lots of expensive bits including the digital dash and the Wilwood disc brakes on the front likely ran up the tally. While you undoubtedly would have a ton of money in a project like this, will it retain its value at sale? Was this professionally built for a wealthy farmer, it sat and now it's up for sale?

Yes, they are still manufacturing a boat load of springs weekly. Mostly coil springs and they have added sway bars, but still doing leaf springs and torsion bars.
Coincidentally, ran into Mike Betts about a month ago at an old guy social club meeting. He didn't remember me so I reintroduced myself (happens frequently.) Had a nice conversation and he invited me for a plant tour.
They are doing really well and are a sixth generation California company. Their biggest business division is the truck service centers segment and they are growing that side rapidly. But their spring division is quite large and impressive. They manufacture a ton of private label coil springs for brands you recognize. Their manufacturing division is much larger than even a half dozen years ago when I last was in the plant on a project for a client who is a vendor of theirs. I asked Mike if he manufactured Viking and he said he's working on it. I mentioned the Magna rear springs on the FB and he said he made those for Ron Bramlett back in the day.
Impressive operation, fairly incredible that they have been in business for 150 years.

I had a 68 Charger back in the day and it had the extra half leaf spring (maybe even two) and it never had wheel hop. That gem would do third gear burnouts where the speedo registered 70 at a complete standstill.
Fortunately my fastback has no wheel hop. I can blow the tires off at most speeds. It has some vintage "Magna" brand reverse eye leafs on it that looked fairly spindly. (BTW Mustangs Plus in Stockton used to have those made here in Fresno at Betts Springs.) No bars etc. I thought I might have to do the half leaf trick but (knock on wood) so far, nothing but smoke.

The point that at least a couple of you missed is that this is a good place. This is a tech board. True74Yamaha would benefit from spending more time on this tech board. A term short for technical bulletin board. BBS is the category "bulletin board system" but the shared interest area is technical (Mustangs) so it's a tech board. And yes, while OT content isn't uncommon, the heart and soul of this place is for smart people like MS to share his technical wisdom or for really good fabricators to share their wisdom. So we can learn.
Social media sites are different from this place. Those types of sites include but are not limited to TikTok, SnapChat, Instagram and to some degree FB. These sites reward content creators for popularity and while they do serve up some good content, they have devolved into serving massive amounts of corrosive content to people often ill prepared to handling it. If you look into it at all, those platforms use user data to skew the content served to them invasively and manipulatively. In general, as stated, it's super popular and widely accepted but deeply damaging.
Tech boards - good.
Websites like www.mustangsteve.com - good
Social media like TikTok/Insta and similar - bad

Was yakkin' with RPM the other day and told him how bad your FB was when you bought it, the total strip down, the severe damage you discovered, the quarter panel replacement and tons of bodywork. He acted like he had no idea. Really? I know it and I've been to 2 Bashes, he's been to a bunch. Do you have a build thread we can all enjoy? Your car looks so darned good, love that color. Would dig reading the rest of the story.

I have the die grinder and burrs, I also have fairly new spherical/stiffened/screw in BJ lowers all installed. Sitting on the shelf, I have the OpenTracker camber kit, so from here on out, hoping zero dollars. I like the zero part.
Nice camber kit, really nice. Just need to install it.
My last (well, only) RPM alignment was a bargain at $50 for gas money. He clearly works too cheaply. But that exercise showed that I really need to get on the stick and install the kit. Zero camber on the pass side IIRC 1* of camber driver's side.
I do need to time my alignment just right because Bob injured a disk in his back picking up a 14" brake disc. Disgusting.

Gene was pretty damn cool, no doubt. 6' tall, blue eyes and a calm, quiet demeanor - he was very popular with the ladies all through his life. And yes, Camel no filters added to his cool, unfortunately they subtracted from his years on earth.
RPM, Bill Hickman was a wheelman extraordinaire but he also was a motorcyclist. From the web - Bill Hickman was already an established stuntman by the time The Wild One was being filmed and his expertise on motorcycles landed him work on the Stanley Kramer production. At some point during the project, Hickman was injured and was unable to continue. It is never clear whether he was hurt while filming a stunt for the movie, although one account (by the late Clyde Earl) had him taking a spill in a motorcycle race not connected with the film. However, Hickman is clearly shown in several of the publicity stills from The Wild One.
So, another thing Gene and Bill had in common. Bikes.

I'm strongly opposed to social media. My wife jokes about my online activity, but my membership on tech forums in support of my car interests is not corrosive like social media. Your brain is not wired to watch other people's highlight reels non stop. Well, with occasional stops to watch pretty girls put their groceries in the car. WTF people. No.

I've attended two and you have something really special here. Guys like BB, RPM, Lieutenant Dan, Sally, Buzil Bros, Gary Zilik, Coupe - tremendous, outstanding and inspiring people. Privileged to know these guys thanks to this place.
've gotten way more interest, compliments and comments on my ratty fastback than I'd ever have guessed. It would not be on the road without inspiration from RPM and Lieutenant Dan. Huge inspo. People love the FB despite all her flaws; want to ask about it and share their Mustang stories.
I sold a part the other night online. The kid messaged and we met up at a restaurant. He was awesome. He built a '69 Grande from a wreck of a project. It's painted bright red in a Mach 1 pattern. 302, with disk brakes and a super slick paint job. He works at a transmission tech at a shop in Visalia. He wanted to know all about my car. Paco was a treat; his English was serviceable and he was excited to share car guy stuff with an old man he just met. In person.
