Can Billy's car be saved?????

Can't make a decision without seeing it but I'm thinking remove front end, frame table to square up the passenger compartment and then drop it on one of these:  https://roadstershop.com/product/full-chassis/1964-70-mustang-chassis/

Just wishing.

Re: Can Billy's car be saved?????

He sent me some "more" pixtures and............can you say "gum wrapper"?!!
FYI......the guy in Chasn. that straightened the frame on mine (back another lifetime ago) had a Mercedes that was almost indistinguishable...seriously!  He PULLED it straight with his frame machine and re used MOST of the body panels. I saw it once it was finished and I could NOT tell it had been wrecked...much less totaled! Frame shop guy was driving it and said the tire wear and such was like any un-wrecked car! Amazing!
Sooooo it can be fixed, no doubt. How much would it cost?? More than the appraised value I'm sure.
Yep...this thing looks pretty run't to me.
Be interesting to find out what BILLY plans to do.

Re: Can Billy's car be saved?????

Depends on what the insurance company says. In some cases you can buy it back from them after the payout.
The roof above the driver door appears kinked as well.
Very sad I really feel for Billy.

Re: Can Billy's car be saved?????

Take the money, and RUN!
Never have anything to do with that twisted car again. It will never seal up—leaks and road noise endlessly.  Maybe snatch the wheels off of it—for next build.
All good things come to an end.

Glad Billy is OK.

Re: Can Billy's car be saved?????

I had tought about that exact thing if I was able to get enough money from them just to be able for it to be the same car .....even if it was just one of the mustang 2 type front ends.

The only glass that busted out was the driver door window where my head hit it ...those kinked looking places above door is where a shelf fell up against it right after i got  it back from paint shop .

Re: Can Billy's car be saved?????

Save the car?  Let's see....  Replace everything from the fire wall forward.  Replace the left rear fender along with inner and outer wheel wells.    Replace the trunk floor; maybe fuel tank too.  Replace rear bumper and the sheet metal above and below.  The driver door is sprung; replace it.  What does that mean about the floor pan underneath?  Lots of bad possibilities under there.   Steering wheel is shot.  That is just what I can see.  You need to look under the car, too, to see what else is sprung, bent, torn, etc.

Unless you have a very deep emotional connection to it, dump it and get a different one and start over.  If it has a wonderful engine/trans, you could buy the car and save the running gear.  Then take the remains to the dump.

I bought mine new and my son wants it when I die.  The Old War Horse has become a part of the family.  If that happened to me, I would save the engine, trans, and seats.  trash the rest.  Then I would give the saved parts to my son and let him build his own.

Full chassis followed with a coupe to fastback conversion.   Project Lazarus.

Re: Can Billy's car be saved?????

So, after all that work, you would be able to say you still have the roof from your Dad’s car.

Buy another nice coupe and remove the roof and graft your roof onto it.  Then you can make that same statement with a whole lot less work and money.

There is a decent c code 66 coupe, pony interior with ac, down the street, no engine or trans for $7,000. I am sure there are lots better ones out there, too.

After you get through with that truck’s insurance, you can afford a Shelby.

Re: Can Billy's car be saved?????

Billy your injury claim should be able to buy you a nice replacement Mustang. The statute of limitations in Alabama is two years, which means you have 2 years to settle the injury claim or file suit. If you're planning on attending the Bash, we can talk there, or you can message me for info if you don't have a lawyer.

Re: Can Billy's car be saved?????

Yes, it is time to retire this pony and put it out to pasture. When finances allow, buy a replacement.

Re: Can Billy's car be saved?????

If the car is too far gone, would purchasing a Dynacorn body be an option and then Billy transplant everything he can from the wreck?

Re: Can Billy's car be saved?????

Agree with the other posts, find another Mustang to restore  Strip all the good useful parts, glass, panels, glove box door, etc., you never know what might be needed for the next build.

65 Fastback, 351W, 5-speed, 4 wheel discs, 9" rear,  R&C Front End.

Re: Can Billy's car be saved?????

I love metal work but I would have to have a very strong connection to bring that car back to life.  It's one thing to replace rusty metal but its a completely different ball game when a car is bent up like that.
