My Gen IV blows at 38 - 40 degrees which is pretty much a standard target from what I read a few years ago.  If it's a tad overcharged it will not get as cold as it should.  You might want to talk to Vintage about it.  With the 69 I would want a stockish system in the dash but with the potentiometer  controls. 
 

If you do the satin black use epoxy black primer instead of grey or red. That way scratches will be less obvious.
What type of primer, paint are you using, spray gun or rattle can? Hundreds of opinions out there on brands and equipment.
 My engine bay before and after.  I still wish i would have used bdy colour.
This all started out just to replace the rear left apron, i got a bit carried away.

Fun project eh Steve? I'm at the same point, figured with the motor out why not. Picked up the heads yesterday, lapped and installed the valves.

I like my original AC because it can blend in the outside air. No aftermarket kit that I looked into had option. I took the original out and repaired it with fiberglass, and then covered the outside of it with the sticky foam insulation and aluminum that you wrap around the AC ducting that is in the attic. The system doesnt sweat anymore. Works pretty good dispite that I didnt put the correct amount of freon it

Excellent job, that came out really nice.

Alan, that is just an aftermarket underdash unit. If you put one in a 69, the passenger gets really good AC but zero leg room driver gets nothing but a passenger complaining of no leg room.

Doesn’t outside air blending go against what the A/C is for?
Why would you want to introduce hot humid outside air into the vehicle?
The original dash A/C outlets are way nicer than the chintzy ones offered in the aftermarket systems.
A west coast Cougar place had nice used ones but out of my price range, like Steve said,”must be made of gold”

I do agree the aftermarket center vents for 69-70 are really ugly. Unfortunately, my car has a near-new non-AC dash pad in it. Retrofitting the much nicer original center vents would require a new pad designed for AC.

Hopefully I can apply the old MustangSteve touch and come up with something better than what Vintage Air offers.
