Test fired my 418

The carburetor was bought used and it’s been sitting for over a year.  I’ll rebuild it and then I’m sure it will idle and rev correctly.  It’s just nice to hear it fire up.  Now if I can remember where I put the carb rebuild kit.

Re: Test fired my 418

Kudos. I get way too anxious on the first fire up after a rebuild. I figured you were 10 years older and 100 lbs heavier.

Re: Test fired my 418

Nice engine, but scratch one brand new water pump seal.  Doesn’t running it dry like that ruin the seal since it has no water to lube/cool it?

Re: Test fired my 418

MS I do not have the belt on so no accessories are spinning.

Bearing Bob I am old at 55 and I’m considered over weight during my check ups. They tell me being 172 puts me over the 170 limit for my age and height.  Lol

I rebuilt the carb and it ran much better but still had a backfire.  I doubled check my plug wires and yes I had two crossed.  She idles very well.
