After dealing with a low heart rate (37-38 BPM) my doc said time for a fix.
I was released after five days in the cardiac care unit with a new ticker fixer, I wonder what’s in store for me next..
Mayhaps someday I’ll get back working on the old Mustang.
Anyone else here have an implant?, Wondering how far I should push it?

Glad all went well Rudi. My good neighbor, a 40 year Ford tech, had one put in ten or fifteen years ago, and it's been replaced at least once due to battery life. His only drawback (he doesn't seem to mind 😁) is he can't work on car ignitions. Hope it all works out for you Rudi.

Thanks Bob, the doctor told me that some welding machines play havoc with the gizmo.
Piss off, eh, I love my Millermatic!

Welp (THX RPM)....I'm not a Dr. Butt....I did sleep at a Days Inn and....
'I Heard' it's the high frequency on a TIG machine that makes the Gary & the Pacemakers go a little wonky.
After the fix you should have untold energy ! (Sure Lyn will be happy too! )
Bess get the old Mustang road worthy for the trip to MB this winter/spring...
Be look'in fer ya......

I've heard sandblasting is also out. I get shocked by mine on occasion. No big deal, just static discharge I imagine, but I don't have a pacemaker either.

I went online looking for something like a faraday apron for you. While I didn't find that, I did find a jock cup for your pacemaker.

That’s one of the first things I thought of as well, could not find anything I’d trust cot something so serious.
Maybe I can find one of those old static ground straps that we used to drag around under our cars!!🤪

Here is an interesting article to read about pacemakers and welding:
Also, if you search on Amazon for "EMF / RF meter" you can find devices designed to measure the fields. This might be interesting to measure the fields when you do a test weld to see if you should turn the power down.

Glad to hear your procedure went well. Every patient I speak to after getting a pacemaker say they feel 100% better. My job is programming and assisting the doctors with implant procedures for pacemaker/ICD's. I'm not a doctor but I pretend I am at work. Lol

I am glad your procedure went well. Keep healing up!
My heart story is a bit different than yours.
In 2020, I went in the hospital to have kidney stones removed as an outpatient. To shorten the story a bit, I wound up having a minor heart attack on the operating table. Afterwards, my heart was racing at times up to 300 beats a minute. I was moved to what was called icu stepdown, where I was monitored for arrhythmia. Several different doctors came in over the next couple of days, and they all mentioned the word "pacemaker". What I come to find out is they were waiting for a certain doctor to come see me, I guess he was out of town or whatnot. He finally came in on a Saturday morning, looked at my charts, yelled at another doctor in front of me, then told me he had to do an ablation asap. Wound up being the following morning. To further shorten this story, the procedure was done, but the problem didn't go away. It turned out after everything was said and done and all of the pacemaker talk, that I was having a reaction to the medicine I was being given for the kidney stones. Flomax. But I went through an ablation procedure and darn near got a pacemaker over medication!

Greg B, we had a patient that had an ICD and out of no where received 90 plus shocks from his device. Turns out he had just start on a new medication that was causing him to go into VF. I cannot recall the name of the medication he had taken. Had he not had an ICD device he would have most likely not made it.
He received so many shocks it depleted his battery life from 8-10 years to months left on his device. He had just gotten a new device a couple months prior to these shocks. Had to get another device.

Rudi, I can't offer anything but good health going forward.

Thanks for all the best wishes brothers.
I actually had two pacemakers put in.
The first was a temporary one in the right side, put in because the newly implemented hospital IT system crashed , two days later the permanent pacemaker got implanted on the left side.

Wish you all the best

Got a coupla pals with 'em, Rudi. Other than being careful with the 'lectric noise, they don't seem to slow guys our urge down too much.

I have no idea, but the operating room was freezing cold.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
