    Added turn downs to my exhaust.

    I decided to add some turn downs on the mufflers since I'm not going to route anything over the rear axle.  Turned them at a slight angle in hopes of not inducing any kind of exhaust drone.

    Turn down s really sound 'bad-a$$'....got that 'thump-thump' gong on at idle...got the old NASCAR roar when ya nail it ...
    got the runny eyes from fumes when you 'roll with the windows down'...(and nose)... the useless sound system ( unless the volume is WAAAYYY up)....the good old 'ringing ears' after a couple hours on the highway...the high pitched whine..."coming from the passenger seat"...
    Is it worth it....SURE if ya just drive it to local shows and around town.
    THAT SWEEET SOUND (AND FUMES) WILL BOUNCE OFF THE ROAD AND BACK INTO THE CAR (even with all the sound dampening you bought.
    Strange coming from 6Sally6 I know.
    The answer... exhaust dumps to open when ya wanna make sweet noise...the rest of the time...pipes to the REAR of the Mustang will make it more fun

    A friend had these as other posts identified, the smells and the noise didn't make for a pleasant driving experience.
    And the heat going to the rear tires helps them age faster.  
    Good thing is, it can be changed if it is an issue.

    Drove it Tuesday night with the windows down.  Wife never complained of fumes.  She would be the first to complain!  I could smell a little but nothing that would make me dislike it.

    Yes I do ... and one can still buy them today!

    I had cheery bombs on a /970 fastback I built that had a 460 four bolt main block, ported SCT heads by a shop in GA.  314 duration with .710 lift roller cam and a Barry Grant 1050 dominator carb.  Car wouldn't idle below 1700 rpm and was very loud.  I loved that thing and wish I still had it.  It would shake pictures on the house walls if I was next to it idling.  That's the only car that has scared me.  It would go sideways at 55mph on the highway when I dropped it into 2nd gear and got on it.

    Around here many car shows are on grass, which means many approaches are worn a bit thin so the turn downs kick up the dust....Perfect!!

    Turn downs dumped under the car were always good for clearing Fall leaves off the driveway!

    Sounds like the Vette my uncle had when I was a kid.  '67 L88 with an M22 and a 4.10 rear.  It didn't have an accelerator; it had a tire spin pedal.  Ran high 10s at the Corvette Nationals one year with nothing more than a pair of 8" wide slicks.  Yeah, yeah, I know, but I come from a Chevy family.  Dad did own a couple Fords over the years and some other makes too, but it was mostly Chevy trucks, Vetttes, Chevelles, Camaros, and Elcos in my childhood.
