I've been working on repainting my old 2010 F150 and decided to do something different on the hood. I think it turned out well, especially for my first time doing it. I cut out the F150 stencil and hand taped the rest off. My wife has had one of those vinyl cutting machines and it hadn’t been used in a few years. I put it to use.

Thank you. Big learning curve trying to get the fint I wanted and be able to size it the way I wanted. I had several samples that I had cut and tried before I finally decided on this one.

With your left hand, reach across your chest, put it over your shoulder and give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done. :-)

Thank you. I wouldn’t go that far. I've rushed a few things that came back to bite me in the butt. It's pretty much a given everything has taken a second go around to get it right on this repaint. To much to type but I have learned a few important things along the way.
I did have to sand the hood down because I had some vapor pop leaving small dimples behind. Then I sanded through the clear coat and had to touch it up. As I said everything ends up with a second go around. I got the two more coats of clear sprayed on the hood and no more craters in the clear. The roof I had to stripe down and redo. Not the paint, just the primer. It's been so hot here and I ended up having gas pin holes in my primer. Roof is painted and good to go now. Some times it's best to slow down and it ends up being faster.

If you had issues and learned from them while producing an excellent result, all the better. IMHO you're due a second pat on the back for getting an excellent result by sticking with it and finding solutions to all the issues that prevented achieving the outcome you wanted. :-)

I agree with John Ha, you’ve done a great job, and all w/o a humidity/temperature-controlled spray booth.
Your reward is a job well done. Congratulations!

Thank you guys. It's been a real challenge with a few set backs. But I learned a few things.

What I learned years ago was that body work and painting was not for me … and we were only trying to paint two fenders!

It's a skill that requires a lot of patience which I'm not the best at.
Here's a side shot with the fender moldings installed. Bumper will be the same gray.

Finished spraying the bed yesterday. It's the last of the body that needed painted. I had to buy more clear coat to finish it. I was spraying AUE-40 which is only sold in a five gallon can. Well four gallons of clear and one gallon of hardener. It's what I had left over from painting my mustang. This clear likes to keep flowing which really helps prevent orange peel, but is easy to get runs in it. So I bought Deltron 2021 which is suppose to be comparable to the AUE clear. The 2021 goes on heavy and I found myself trying to spray it like I was spraying the AUE. So I do have a little more orange peel but it'll wet sand and buff right out. It was hard to trust myself to spray even heavier with the 2021, was afraid to get runs. But this stuff goes on and doesn't move/sag at all. I think if I had the proper reducer for it I could have laid a better spray down.
I decided to not spray sanding primer before paint. I prepped the old paint/surface with 400 grit. I did lightly sand the epoxy primer with 600 grit to knock down any dirt and to see it I had and heavy sanding marks visible. It's a daily driver so I'm not trying to get it show car flat.
Today I have our daughter's baby shower and I volunteered to go into work tomorrow on my day off. Hoping I will have time to apply the bed liner later today.
