I've made some experiments using my 3D printer and made a couple of gaskets using ThermoPlastic Polyurethane filament.

Testfitting almost everything before it's time to put the engine back into the car. Only problem I ran into was the clearance between one spark plug boot and the driver's side header which I'll fix tomorrow.

Does it have a bolt-in core support?
Yes it has. I also reinforced the firewall and made the top of the inner fenders of thicker than original material together with connecting the a-pillars to the shock towers and the export brace that all together hopefully will make the whole engine bay less flexible than original.

Had to order new pushrods from the US that's not arrived yet, but meanwhile I had some time to detail the engine. That round thingie in the foreground on the left side header is where the wastegate is gonna be.
Garage Points » Many thanks to Ron68 » 10/05/2023 3:17 PM |
Ron68 has been very nice and sent me the old license plates from his ´68 Mustang which now are on the wall just above the computer screen in my garage, many thanks!

Forged pistons are in:
And my old faithful rubber mallet that I had for years finally gave up. The accident was unrelated to the pistons installment thankfully.
Also painted the headers and the rest of the exhaust system with some German brand paint supposed to be able to handle 800 degree Celsius = 1472 degree Fahrenheit:

Thanks Glen, Ron and Bearing Bob!
Made the final(?) assembly of the left side front suspension yesterday.
It was almost like I didn't want to put the front wheel back on as it's gonna hide all this that I put hours and hours into.

Making slow but steady progress:
Took the engine out to be able to paint the engine bay.
Took the rods and the pistons to a machine shop today to have the pistons replaced from cast to forged.
Put my homemade shifter gizmo and the hydraulic clutch on to the transmission.

My story is that I joined in 2000 after I had bought what is now the Phoenix Project '67 coupe.

Wow. Just Wow. Just got a look at all of the progress that you have made on the Phoenix project, and the design and workmanship is beyond amazing. Hakan, you are a man of many talents! Your latest wiring pictures look very similar to the wiring on the latest 737 model aircraft I used to work on before I retired three years ago. And the exhaust/turbo charger plumbing looks very similar to the pneumatic systems on them also. I look forward very much to when the finished product will hit the road!
Many thanks Ron!
I've been retired myself now since March 1st and finally have no excuses for not getting things done to the '67 Mustang. Well, I did buy a 3D printer last week that I of course had to figure out how to use, make my own 3D drawings and other related stuff... I did the "mistake" a while ago to make my own holster for one of my Walthers and when the other guys in the local club saw it they of course asked if I could make more of them and for other models as well and that's where a 3D printer also comes in handy.

You are going to mess around and make me learn how to "Boil Bolts"
It's not very hard. But the recipe includes distilled water that has to be made out of snow that has fallen between the 59th and 60th parallel in northern Europe as that kind of snow has specific properties. Without that the stuff you are trying to plate won't be possible to polish. :-)

They just gave me a strange look at the local hardware store when I asked them if they had any parts to make this happen and as usual I ended up with some DIY. To make it possible to connect both the oil pressure warning light and the mechanical oil pressure gauge I have I came up with this. I already used the usual oil pressure sender hole in the engine block for the oil feed to the turbocharger. Just have to braze it together now...
