Glad to hear you are feeling better.
Cannot wait to hear the 393w running…in the ol’ Gal.

I’ll stick with a cable clutch.
Last thing I need is a hydraulic leak in the interior.
Here is a recent install of the Malwood hydraulic clutch:

The 84 Cougar, 86 Mustang GT, and 92 Mustang GT all had 5.0L and thermal clutches from factory and all had 5.0L’s.
There were only 2 times I had high temperatures.
The cause was running the air conditioning while boulevard cruising on a hot humid evening and going up the Grapevine.
I was aware of the potential when both happened.
Turned the a/c off for a few minutes and everything was fine.
Btw, all OBS trucks had thermal clutches as well.

RTM…great when things aren’t as bad as we initially think. Car looks great.

Ron, winter is not over in all parts of this wonderful country.
My tractor tires are delayed a day…stuff happens.
In addition to the heater hose trick, I install the screw (leave a little loose) by passenger kick panel to support heater assembly after placing the studs and hoses through firewall.
This allows the installation of the 4 nuts in engine compartment.
I also place cardboard, floor mat, or kneeling pad over the door sill plate to minimize edge digging into my side.
I have same project…when it warms up some…like 40F. 😂

It's been 25 years since it was painted and, while it still looks good, it has a few little dents, creases and chips from garage wars and driving. I also have the used and unpainted stock hood on it and wanted to get that matched, as well as getting rid of the LeMans stripes.
I thought seriously about painting it myself but after seeing the price of paint, decided that it was too expensive an experiment to fail, especially given my innate talent for messing up on applying finishes to things.
It'll be the same fake Nightmist Blue color (GM Indigo Blue metalic). The shop owner said it'd be a month or two to get it done.
I'm looking forward to getting it back, only now I'll have to start cleaning all the bugs off after I've driven it, and won't be able to use it as a temporary storage shelf when it's in the garage. Oh well.
I suppose your workbench is gone too?😁
That is an awesome color too.

I'm stressing because if I take this job offer in Nashville I may not have much time left to work on it.
Bob, for a small fee I will gladly take it so you don’t have to stress out.
Win-win! 😁
Since the mid 90’s, I perform my initial coolant fill with water only.
It allows the rubber hoses to seal on metal fittings and check for leaks.
The coolant seems to be more slippery than in past and I was having issues with leaks at fittings.
Look at bright side, the screw didn’t get into wiring harness and let the smoke out.
Take your time, it will be worth it.

Some companies may pay for relocation expenses.
They may even purchase your existing home so you can relocate close to job location.
Worth asking about.

I agree with removing the rear sway bar.
Appears to be well sorted.
Nice paint from what I see.
Rear needs sorting out before tires get cut up.
Although not all parts are 65, most people wouldn’t even know.
Tastefully done…I wouldn’t be embarrassed to drive it. 😁

Take a look at this info from Ranger Station site.
Perhaps the same pump can be used with custom made bracket(s).
I like how the pump outlet is at the bottom.

Was the seal that squished out a really “soft slippery rubber” when gas is on it?
Spectra Premium EFI tank has a seal like that.
Small amount of fuel was found on floor following day, after initial fill…5 gallons at a time.
So I used a thin layer of Aviation Form a gasket to hold in place after it tacked up.
I considered using grease too.
Just did not want to repeat this process in winter.
Perhaps, manufacturing oils maybe or poor install by my head mechanic.
Have not run across any issues since…coolant is another story.

The problem for me being over 6'-2" is the convertible one piece seat riser is one inch higher than the stock individual seat risers. When I did mine I believe a full width for non convertibles was available at NPD. I bought a one piece seat riser, and cut and spliced the center hump into each stock seat riser.
RPM, did you shorten the stock seat riser too?

Hope this helps clarify potential clearance modifications for V6/GT rear calipers.
From my understanding, people were reusing the V6/GT bracket.
Another place for clearance is the inside radius of the caliper opening going from 10” to 11.65”.
Minor modifications, but enough to irk ya in the middle of a project if unaware.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
