My stepson just bought a car from Enterprise Car Sales here in Knoxville, TN.  He lives in O'Fallon MO but he is visiting us here until May.  The dealer here did his paperwork and it was all done for MO.  The dealer didn't know the tax rate for MO but called MO to get the proper rate.  Bottom line, All state paperwork he did was for MO except for the temporary tag.  That is TN.  He said the MO tag should arrive to their office here in Knoxville in the next 2 weeks.

I don't see why the AZ dealer isn't doing the same thing for you.

It looks like Blueprint Engines is 2 hours west of Lincoln.  It would possibly be able to get a tour scheduled on Friday (closed on weekends).

If your back started hurting after you aged, then it was probably from attempting something now that you are not able to do any longer.  Back when you were more fit, flexible, and stronger, those actions were fine. Otherwise, your back would have started hurting then.  ...sucks getting older, but at least get smarter and don't try things that result in injury.

I can only imagine a choice of how much money to spend must have been a factor...
Labor: $0
Parts:  little as possible

Objective:  get the car running without exhaust leak sound - no concern to performance

Something neutral might be to take a glass jar and weigh it down with something to make it sink then seal the top..

I can only imagine the pricing is because the car is from "the original Shelby crew", hand made, and limited to 24 vehicles.  Combine that sales statement with a world that certainly contains 24 buyers with that kind of money to throw away...
... that's the only way I can imagine it

I vote for crank trigger and no distributor.

As has been pointed out before, the distributor drives the oil pump.  What is your vote for driving the oil pump?  (just curious)

Good summary.  Phasing information is just something to tuck away in the mind to call on in some future time if an engine is have a weird issue.

Daze, I saw in that MSD video I linked that they adjusted the rotor phase using a special 2 part rotor.  For a standard one part rotor, do you think there would be a way to adjust the rotor position for a set timing position?   For example, if there were a way to be able to slightly shift the cap position and lock it down that would do the same job that the special adjustable rotor they use does.  I guess basically, one would need to be able to move the rotor or the cap without moving the distributor to accomplish phase changes.

This is not the video I remember but it shows the spark jump point being moved using an adjustable race rotor:

I remember seeing a video in the past about phasing a distributor.  (maybe a few memory flaws)  What I remember was that an inspection hole was drilled into a cap to use as a viewing port while phasing the distributor to be at the center of the rotor tip.  The video included a discussion of the large caps having a broader rotor tip thus allowing more tolerance to poor distributor phasing.  This means a person's experience with spark jumps using a small cap will be more dependent on proper distributor phasing to prevent the jumps.  ...this is what I remember.  I don't know what video that was.

If you get Vintage Air, be sure to spec the system with a condenser designed to fit the wider 24” radiator. Even if you don’t use the wider radiator, it still works with the original radiator and is a much cleaner design as to how it mounts under the hood latch bracket. No holes needed for side mount brackets.
Plus, it fits with the wider radiator if needed.

Thanks for the tip! Is the Vintage air the best system to go with? Is there a particular model to quote when ordering? Can I remove the heater box and just have the A/C unit provide the heat?

Can you imagine how many people want to visit that garage...
I drove by there several years ago in my Miata.  That was back when he still did burn-outs in his videos before the Burbank Police asked him to stop it.  The road in front of the garage had a lot of black streaks.  I didn't try to visit though.

The address is: 3160 N Damon Way, Burbank, CA 91505, if you want to pull it up on a map.
