FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Finally, a way to calibrate a Mustang fuel gage » 3/31/2025 7:50 PM |
The car made the 3,600 mile Bash trip from TX to CA and back with no problem. It started working consistently in a more linear fashion. However, I have not driven the car much since I got home due to the rack & pinion issues that I am working on now. The best thing I can say is I don't notice it being there. I think that is the best description of a properly working electronic device.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Boss 302 video » 3/31/2025 7:45 PM |
Interesting, but a very annoying AI generated narrative, and maybe three actual pictures of a Boss 302 engine. An article loses credibility quickly when the narrative and the pictures going along with it are of a totally different item. This tells me the person(s) who put it together do not know what they are talking about. And relating modern Coyote to a Boss 302 design? I do not see any similarities.
I found this very annoying to watch.
Boss 302 was my favorite Mustang. I think most of this was pure BS.

Great job, Daze.
I appreciate the credit.
Hopefully you have a tapered ring compressor tool. Those are the ONLY way to install pistons. Thumb pressure is all it takes and they never mess up. I have them in stock sizes and an adjustable one. If buying again, I would just get the adjustable one.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Where was it that was a good place to get the stock HO roller cam » 3/28/2025 12:47 PM |
I may have an extra cam
If needed.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » 351 Roller block » 3/27/2025 9:36 PM |
Typically around $400 for core short block. Pretty rare, though.
Having built several of every variation of Ford small blocks, I am sold on roller 5.0 based engines. Much easier to work around once installed. Of course, I am now in the old fart category and having a running car is more important than having the fastest car.
And, no, you can’t have my aluminum 427.

There used to be an article on my website how to swap in a generic OReilly socket. Not hard to do. Just be sure it grounds well.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » So I opened a can of worms... » 3/20/2025 9:15 AM |
Tip for reinstall:
Use one long heater hose that goes from upper connection, through firewall, then back through firewall to connect to lower hose connection. That way you can install the clamps on the floorboard and not snaked under the dash. Once the clamps are secure, grab the hose loop and pull from engine compartment. The heatwr box will fall right in position.
Be sure to test the new core before installing it. I use a short length of bicycle tube with the Schrader valve in it. Clamp to each tube, put 15 psi in it and submerge.

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » MII steering shaft support bracket » 3/16/2025 5:15 PM |
That support does nothing to support your unsupported steering column shaft. I have seen lots done like yours. I have corrected a few to a properly supported column and shaft.
I see what you are trying to do but that is not the best and simplest solution
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » BE SAFE MS!! » 3/16/2025 8:48 AM |
Sixty miles away, but I appreciate your concern.
Our drought-ridden hill country is just one red hot ember away from the same fate. This is not a scenario we are familiar with around here. Some neighbors have not been able to renew home insurance because of it.
Fifty mph winds are not helping.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » MII steering shaft support bracket » 3/16/2025 8:40 AM |
Why is that there? Its only function can be to make your steering bind. Heim joints are not rotational bearings.
I cannot see any reason to have a midshaft support on an Mii setup. A proper setup would have a joint at the end of the column, an intermediate straight shaft, and a joint at the rack.
Can you explain your reasoning in installing that?
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Brake Pressure Differential Valve or is it a Proportioning valve » 3/15/2025 9:11 AM |
Have you verified the combi valve is centered? It will block flow to the rear if it shifted due to unequal pressure
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Brake Pressure Differential Valve or is it a Proportioning valve » 3/14/2025 8:18 PM |
Yes, if the rod is too long, the piston will not retract and the bowl will not flow fluid into the master cylinder piston bore.
The bowl closest to the firewall feeds front brakes. Bowl closest to radiator is rear brakes.

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » All gauges went dead on my 67 coupe » 3/13/2025 5:11 PM |
Alternator gauge is powered separately from oil, gas, temp. Most alt gauges don’t register anyway, though.
Pull the cluster and check for power into and out of CVU, plus ground wire continuity.

Yep
Super nice quality
But, in the end, the guy has the same problem as my 69 coupe. It is just a coupe.
The same effort on a fastback or even a convertible would get his price alot easier.
When you build a car to that level, you better plan on enjoying it rather than try to sell it

Sure looks like it but has a better routing for the return hose.

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Brake Pressure Differential Valve or is it a Proportioning valve » 3/11/2025 3:41 PM |
Do you have the rear drums installed? Hard to bleed if there is nothing for the pistons to push against. Also, shoes need to be adjusted properly first.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Found a new reservoir for my P/S pump » 3/11/2025 12:36 PM |
Found this to swap the ham can GM pump housing to a Ford design. It has a better return line entry tube that will not put the hose against the exhaust manifold like the one that came from Borgeson.
