FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » What Clutch cable do I need for my T5 in my 65 » 2/14/2020 10:11 AM |
Thanks, Steve. I kind of need it in a hurry. I see multiple part numbers. Which is the one I want? M7553B302, M7553C302 or M7553D302 . Nobody seem to provide specs for any of these. Thanks, again.

I haven't posted in quite a while, I guess that's a good thing because it means I've been driving the car and it's been trouble free. However, yesterday it seems like the clutch cable has given up the ghost. I have (had) the improved Mustang Steve cable (72" length) along with the firewall adjuster and would like to find a replacement locally, if possible. Can anyone let me know what I can ask for at the part counter? Is it a standard Ford cable? Thanks!

Many people TOOK the paint off so they became all chrome, but origianlly, they just had a chrome looking 'ring' around the gage. The cap itself was all chome UNDER the crinkle paint though.

Tires would need to be 215x75 to get the inch I would need. A block of wood between the spring coils might just be the thing. All I'd need to do is secure it so it wouldn't fall off during loading/unloading.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Any way to temorarily increase ground clearance? » 8/29/2013 8:53 AM |
Thanks. All I need to do is get it on and off the train. I will not be using it for real driving so no alignment will be needed.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Any way to temorarily increase ground clearance? » 8/29/2013 7:59 AM |
I am considering taking the auto train to FL with my 65, arning drop, 1 inch lowered and with headers. The auto train says I need 4 inches ground clearance. I scrape on most speed bumps. I have 3 inches. Any way to increase the front clearance just before I load the car? I can't imagine any temp solution would be 'driveable'. I would probably need to do something just before loading and just after unloading. I am lhinking I MIGHT be able to use some kind of spacers between the spring coils to get me there. If so, who sells them?
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Did my friend get taken advantage of? » 7/22/2013 1:11 PM |
Oh, yeah. He burned her. Took profit on the tank, and BIG profit on the labor, like you suggest. CJ Pony has them for about 120-140, something like that. A one hour estimate is pretty generous, consdiering these ARE the trunk foor and only require the removal a dozen or so bolts. Too late now. Maybe she won't be so ready to leave you undisturbed next time.

Yeah... I have the same problem when I push too hard on the loud pedal...Some have told me to ease up on the pedal pressure... Can't seem to get that hang of that.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Using a 20 or 22 gallon tank in place of the 16 gallons tank » 4/30/2013 5:57 AM |
Any of you swapped out a '65 16 gallon tank for a 20 or 22? If so, did you think the loss of trunk space was worth it and was the additonal weight of 25 to 40 pounds over the axle noticiable? How did the additonal capacity affect the common fueling problem of pump shut off and spillage? Did it get worse or better? Would you do it again?

A friend of our family once said "Never refuse andything someone wants to give you. You never know who might need it and you can help them out at that time". Unfortunately, I believed him and now have to make some tough decisions about what stuff will accompany me on my move ....
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Heater box before carpet? » 4/08/2013 6:44 AM |
I got mine from CJ and noticed they had different levels of 'quality'. I got the molded, more expensive version and it fit almost pefect. Even the punch holes for the push in fasteners lined up! I can't imagine that the firewall for the fastback is different from the coupe.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Flexable radiator hoses.... » 4/08/2013 6:40 AM |
Totally agree. I had planned to use them but once the car was finished, it just looked 'cheap'. I got the molded hoses and kept the flexible ones for emergency only use as Howard suggests.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Heater box before carpet? » 4/07/2013 9:01 AM |
Rest easy, your carpet install should be fine, mine was with the same sequence. I have heard that different people have had carpet fitment isusues which inplies there is variance in tolerances either with the carpet or the cars themselves. Mine was just about perfect with sound insulation, heat shield and all that stuff under neath the carpet.

I got my first Mustang, a Vintage Burgundy T code 65 coupe 3 speed when I was 17 .It belonged to the father of a buddy of mine The dad wrecked it by smacking it into the back of our family friends 64 Fairlane 260 V8. I bought it from the insurance company for $300, scoured the junk yards for a new fender, hood, valance, bumper and a few other parts. I found them all, but they were powder blue. Yeah, not so pretty but I had no money so that's how they stayed. Drove that car all over the east coast for a year or so, replaced a few transmissions along the way and just loved that car! Drove it until the engine just gave up.
Bought another Mustang black C code '65 3 speed from another friend and loved the V8! Drove that for a few years too! In the mid 70's I was hitch hiking my way around Massachusetts and got picked up by a guy who had a white C code 66 with a 4 speed and a rally pac. I offer to buy the rally pac. He said 'no deal, it goes with the car'. So I offered to buy the car. $200 later, the car was mine. Drove that car another 75,000 miles in short order, When the gas tank and rear spring shackle finally rusted through the trunk floor, my buddy and I welded up some supports and I continued to drive that car until it just was too tired. I stripped EVERYTHING off that car and still have parts from it today, including the pally pac, which is what I wanted in the first place. Got married and sold the disassembled pieces of the first two mustangs, but kept most of the stuff from that third one Bought a bunch of Mustang II's including a V6 Mach 1 and a V8 Cobra II. Bought a Fox body. Got divorced... bye, bye fox body.
My then girlfriends father was into cars and had a small collection. A '56 Tbird, '57 Plymouth Fury, a 67 Chevy II and a 65 D code 4 speed coupe. I bought the coupe and Chevy. The coupe had been ‘restored’ in the mid 80’s and actually looked pretty good. It was a Kentucky car so it hadn’t seen the ravages of winter like cars in the

Was a post count next to the user who psoetd in each thread in the version you gave MS? It is kept in the user list and, while not of much use at this early stage, as more posts happen,it could be. I have found it useful on other forums.

Yep! Even though it takes up a little more real estate on the screen, it is easier to view threads and then return to look at a different one. See? I'm already adjusting!

Change frightens me but by the same token, fright changes me. I will adjust!
