So the harnesses aren't different? I feel like the 68 plug in is different than the previous years

Hi all, can 65, 66 or 67 Fog Light Harnesses be used on a 68?  I obviously want to go factory with factory switches, just curious if I can use other years on it?

Jeff

Ty MS, this is a good thing to look for, I will check it out!.........and thanks to everyone else, I really would hate to rip apart all this stuff on a recently built engine with low miles for something like this......its nonsense!

Thanks Sally and Bob....

I can't see the Cover being bad, the entire motor was completely redone and everything new. But, obv not impossible.

I didn't think it should friggin leak.....oddly enough the 69 I used to own with a 351W did the same thing pre-rebuild and after.

When I do the work Sally I always use an expanding high heat sealer on both surfaces of the gasket, can't figure out why builders don't!

Hi All, its been a minute.....Im in Canada and the old girl is in the stable for the winter, but when I went to just take a look at it, tinker a little I noticed on each side of the Distributor, those 2 cupping areas along the block and timing cover that each side was FULL of coolent!

It was freshly rebuilt 5-6yrs ago and runs like a dream.  I noticed this later in the season after I changed the ALT to a Higher Output, but it was half this amount if not less.....I assumed perhaps I didnt tighten the bolts enough, so they cranked down another quarter turn....

now it hasnt started in over a month, not even cranked over but those 2 locations are FULL of coolent, how is it doesnt leak at all while driving it, and it does now.....Ive never had to top up coolent

ty,
Jeff

For starters I do not want a Single wire system so no need to retake the topic on that.
Secondly why I want/need a higher output is irrelevant, let's just assume I know what I'm doing and/or talking about.

I really, strongly, simply and humbly require insight on which High Output Alt brand to go with?

I read mixed reviews on all of them, Powermaster, Quality Power, Tuff Stuff. What is the collective here say about the best or very reliable or quality product/brand?

I can only assume the T-Stat is good and working as I replaced it last year. As mentioned, the flowing isn't visible in the rad on a cold start, only later. And it doesn't stop flowing nor the the temp gauges drop, only climb.

I have 2 gauges, the factory one and a 3-stack set that has that fitting that dips in the cooling system and is connected with thermo metal to the gauge

Sorry to hear about the poor customer service, what's the name of the place so we can all stay away?

As far as "cheap" fans go, that's probably the top or at least one of the top reasons people have issues with elec fans. I'd say 2nd is wiring as the fans can pull a LOT of amps especially on startup. I highly recommend SPAL.

That's exactly what I ended up doing, I ordered one SPAL just to see if that makes an improvement, if it does (as I suspect it shall) then the problem is ruled out........well one is, the other is the fact I Paid TOP dollar for a Fan, Shroud and Dual 12" fans to receive Junk Fans!
Its safe to say the Rad works cause at 80mph it cools right down to a crazy low temp, the Thermostat wouldn't stand a chance on opening with how cool it runs......I may end up switching to a 165deg thermo if that's not already in there, I just cant recall if I did that or 180....

The Company/Brand is DNA Motoring (https://dnamotoring.com/)........it was not a direct fit, the description said V8 1967/68 Mustang/Cougars/Maverick, so there's that lol.

I would suggest taking a closer look at the fan blade shape to pull air.
The 1900 rpm tells me that there is a load on the electric motors.
Therefore, I believe that is the correct way to mount the fan blades.

Have any pictures?

Im trying to upload photos but I dont think its working:

Fans are on a relay.....Temp Switch is located on the Thermostat Housing.....when I removed the Older Rad I found a broken like spring in the bottom, it was in there in all different directions and had sharp edges.  Its been a while now since I did that but I do believe some still remained ---- It spikes whenever you are not Moving and Climbs to Dangerous levels at idle or very slow speeds (acclerating and braking in city) but holds when driving around 40-50mph....

Yes they are both Pulling.  Now I did an RPM test with a tool and reflective tape.  The fans spin at 22-2300 the way I have them and 1900ish if I flip the blades and do a pull system. I assumed the higher RPM way would move more air.

This rad claims to be a 3-core but is thinner than my old 3core. But it's also a bit wider than the old one.

I decided to switch cause all modern vehicles did the same, plus, the air moving load while driving.

These things can't even cool while I'm driving 50mph, it holds temp there, when I hit 60+ (more like 70 and up) it then cools it right down to a lower temp then I'm used to seeing.

Can someone please explain how my brand new DNA 3 Core Rad with TWO 12" fans is causing my car to overheat?  when the vehicle had the Mechanical Fan it was perfection.......I switched to Electric and its spiking to temperatures that are dangerous; nowhere near where the mechanical was at, that never went past half, now im exceeding 290deg!!!!!  i gotta be hitting 205-210!

I paid $485CAN for this crap!

302 Modified, but nothing radical.......I believe my thermostat installed is a 175 (around that).  electric fan switch is 185on-175off.....

Help!?

Thank you everyone.

I can't imagine lean, it's a Holley and I have 66/68 jetting with a 6.5PV. A completely stock motor that's a decent amount of fuel!  Zero performance/driveability issues start to 4th at 110miles an hour, with the exception of a random Spit/Back fire out the carb from 3500-4000rpm.  It does not do it consistently.

We gotta verify the Timing (I know it was checked recently but I only trust myself).

One last question, His Dist. Had a PerTronix D-57-22 elect. Ignition.  Can I use anSD Blaster 2 coil directly to it?

Hi all, I'm inquiring for my buddies 1970 Mach......2 carburetors, a 600 Edel performer and now a Holley 600DP experienced a backfire a few times a the rpm range of 3000-4000 range (hard to tell exactly) IN 4TH!

I can speak first hand with the Holley there is no hesitation, no stumble and ALWAYS appears/feels like there is enough fuel......."smells" slightly on the richer side even.

Any thoughts on the most likely culrpit?

I'm thinking timing.

Oh, also, intermittent pinging which only appeared to be in 3rd at a conservative speed, but as you tend to "lean into" telling the car to accelerate, shortly there after pinging goes away.

I checked the Vac. adv and it's not working.....the canisters holds air, but does not advance the dist.  (It is also the dual canister type)

So does this mean it's not a Ford /Holley carburetor?

If not, any idea for what?  I was always aware of the C9 D0 thing, which is part of what confused me and lead me here.

Hi all, a friend purchased a Grabber Blue, extremely original and numbers matching 351C 1970 Mach.

Bolted to it is a Holley Vacuum Secondary dual inlet with what I understand to have factory ford kickdown Linkage.

Now the car was ordered with a 4spd, and still has it, which is giving me reason to believe that carb is not original.

I'm going to attach some photos if anyone can help to decode it.

The problem is irrelevant, the car could be getting built from scratch and require a new pedal.

Essentially I was simply trying to find a replacement.

But the pedal, as described is very, Very sloppy. 3" of movement side to side. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hi Friends!
So I made a New Friend who imported a 1970 Grabber Blue 4spd Car from California.

His Throttle Pedal moves around roughly 3" left to right, it's total nonsense. What's worse is I can't find a part number or listing for Just a 1970.......All listings show 1969, and one specifically said will not fit a 1970 Convertible.

Is this part specific to 1970 or is it identical to 69?

Jeff
