I had planned to leave my wedding in my '67 coupe. On the morning of the wedding I went and hid it so people wouldn't put shaving cream on the paint. My friend was going to go pick up the car during the reception and bring it to the church so we could leave in it. He went to get it and the battery was dead... so dead that he couldn't get it to jump off... so we ended up leaving in my wife's Corolla instead.
That's sucks

Well now you know how I did the AOD trans for $1000.00...found a good trans out of a smashed but running truck.
Installed a shift kit and I was good to go.

Are these kits listed above applicable to the 4R70W swap as well?
I don't know if the kit link I gave you will work with 4R70w

Can you post some pics when you fab the heater lines? I’d like to do the same, but am not sure the best way to go about it and make the various connections.
Will do,

A fine example of "hot rodding" IMHO!!!!
REALLY like how most of your "stuff" is hidden.
What about the tensioner/idler pulley(s)?
Nice how you moved the alt. down below the compressor,BTW

At this point I don't see a need for anything more than the normal V-belt adjustment tension as this pump takes very little power to turn it.

Hi , really nice clean engine ! Nice job !
Please can you tell me the size of your AC belt ? Is wider than the other as seems to me .
This is the question that mechanic asked me today when i filled up for first time :
" Why are you using a 10 mm belt instead of 12 mm as supposed to be from v groove in compressor.?"
I didnt know , and nothing was cleared on istruction kit for ac
I need to know how width should be . Thanks !
Well, you should ask this in a post I'm not real sure as I have a aftermarket crank pulley and all the groves are all the same size. I do think that on a stock pulley that the a/c grove is bigger as in that you would need the bigger 12mm v-belt.

Well Guys and gals I have finished the A/C pump brackets and have added a new plan to get rid of the A/C lines under the hood.
First pic is the pump adjusting bracket.
This next two pics are just of the engine bay the way it look with a/c pump mounted
As you can see both the #10 and #8 line coming from the pump are going to the core support.
This is where the change is going to be made, the #10 line and the #6 line will now go around to the inside of the fender.
The lines come around and up to the dryer.
#10 and #6 lines Run along the top of the fender
Both lines run into a bulkhead at the firewall on the inside of the fender.
The bulkhead comes out just under the stock heater box and the lines run just in front up and behind the glove box.
The two lines will run strait to my rebuilt factory stock A/C evap box
And yes I'm going to build sheet metal covering for all the a/c lines under the fender to protect the from rocks and such.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Flex fan or Clutch fan? » 1/24/2018 11:29 AM |
Well thanks for all the input its all greats stuff, I'm leaning to staying with the flex fan.
I have an over sized Aluminum radiator so cooling has not been a problem and if anything it has a hard time keeping heat. I'm putting A/C on and I'm thinking more about the air through the condenser at idle if the clutch fan is not seeing to much heat it will not lock in (for lack of a better term) and spin the fan harder at Idle making good air flow over the A/C condenser when needed. I did a test with out the fan shroud (just because I had it off) with the flex fan and it pulls good air through the A/C condenser. It will not only hold a paper on it will suck paper on from 3" away from the condenser. I will do the same test with a clutch fan to see if it still pull good air at an Idle. I can live with any of the draw backs of a flex fan if it will help keep my A/C working better in the summer.

I don't live in Texas, Jeff, but I have tested my heap on a drive to Las Vegas when it was 120 down there. I have a 20" two-row rad with a seven blade thermal clutch fan and a good shroud. The car normally never goes above the stat (195) and on that trip to Vegas with the AC going max it got up to around 210...maybe 220 sitting at a light. I'm a believer in clutch fans and proper shrouds.

Thanks Bob,
I see their are normal and heavy duty clutch, normal spins 70% speed and HD spins 90% any thoughts on that and or what do you have?
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Flex fan or Clutch fan? » 1/19/2018 1:42 PM |
Guys at this time I have a flex fan and I"m looking at clutch fan as an option. I have a 20" alum radiator with no cooling problems at this time.
What are you guys in Texas or living in hot places the use and why? Just pros and cons
I know its hard to think about this now, Being winter and all

Nice job! I have two questions that are not evident in your photos. First, what do you have planned for a tensioner on the AC compressor? Lastly, In one picture, you show the heater hose cut and plugged. Does this installation require that you abandon the heater or will the hose clear the compressor?
The heater is just cut off because I'm making two 1/2" SS hard line tubes to run over the intake instead of black rubber hose. The tensioner will be coming off the front of the water pump pushing up and out on the A/C pump with adjustment just like the alternator adjuster bracket. I want to do something some what custom with the bracket because I want to mill off the top mounts off of the A/C pump for a cleaner look.

I have never liked having an A/C pump on top of the motor blocking the view of the motor on any car.
So its time to up grade the A/C on my 65 mustang with Vintage Air and my plan to find a better place for the A/C pump. Here is what I have come up with so far.

could be timing at idle, Not enough BTDC timing can make the motor heat up at Idle. Do you have vacuum can on that MSD dist?
