Got the rear axle bolted in and rechecked for the back spacing I’ll need for the 17x11 rim.  Looks like 6.5 BS will be a perfect fit.   I may go with 6.75 BS just to give myself some extra room and if needed I could use a 1/4 spacer.

The fronts look like 4.5 will be good but the tire does hit the inner frame at full turn.  It does so with either 4 or 4.5 BS.  The rims I want don’t come with more than 3.5 for a 17x7.  If I go to 17x8 then I can get the 4.5.  I’ll look at this a few more times before I commit to a size. Just want to make sure I order right the first time.

Have you moved the axle thru its travel limits to see if it clears the wheel opening lips?

Yeees...butt...I saw what you were doing, but I'm too lazy to do a two minute search. But I'll post a couple times here which takes much more time.

Nice job on the clevises, who made them, what grade of steel?
Much more impressive than the cast/forged items!

I updated my website with all that info

Daze, you deserve an honorable mention as well.

I did read your initial write up years ago…did not see the updated clevis.

I used the same seller for the clevis, just checked your website.

So from whom did you get the clevis?

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Full Chassis - Roadster Shop » 4/07/2024 4:44 PM

Guys that use a chassis like this usually have a shop build the car, and aren't thinking about what they could also use the money to buy.

This was back before Zray was selling his, and I built mine from 1½ X .180 wall chromo tube for about a third of Zrays price. While I have used the jack pad it's more of a pita to drive the car on a couple of 2x6s to get it high enough to slide the floor jack in from the front. I usually jack from the front torque boxes.i also tied the crossmember into the LCA mounting bolt, which might help keep things in place.

I really look forward to the jack pad probably the most. So many times I've just wanted to lift the front quickly to do something.

With your 65 that sits higher, and no front spoiler, you shouldn't have any problems getting the jack under there.

The standard bearing on early Mustangs ain't the best for side loads when cornering. I've never seen a floater on a drag car.

Zachary what I was tinking... then I read the article. Funny how the article mentions "The Probe is not now and never will be Mustang GT competition, and Ford was right to pass on the silly nonsense of giving this car a Mustang nameplate." But Ford had no problem putting a Mach 1 badge on a erectric SUV.

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Tail lights any recomendations on the the LED taillights » 4/04/2024 8:32 AM

I bought these back when they were $100 less from a recommendation of a fellow 69 owner. My main concern was I didn't want to see the individual LEDs thru the lens. These put out a nice solid red without seeing a bunch of red dots. I also installed front turn signal LEDs of unknown make, as they were given to me. They too put out a lot of light.

If it's stuck shut it'll be running really rich.  You'd smell that in the exhaust and see the black smoke.

I'd guess you have a vacuum leak somewhere.

It is running rich...I been working a lot lately and aint had a chance to look at it it much.
I wish I had another carb I could stick on it.

It would be easier and take less time to remove the air cleaner and look at the choke to see if it's your issue.

Does anyone know anyone in car sales that can help me understand taxes when buying a car out of state?  I'm finally getting around to buying a bigger truck so I can haul my mustang on trips.  The dealer says I need to pay AZ tax rate of 8.6% but Texas has a maximum of 8.25% and they are supposed to pay back to the state I'm registering it in.  Very confused.

Please DM me if you know someone or can speak to how out of state car sales work.

I've got a buddy who has car dealerships, he said let him know if it was new or used, which state you're buying it in, and which state you're going to register it in, and he'll have his DMV gal get the info.

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Thinking about subframe connectors... » 3/22/2024 11:27 AM

Good info above. I'm struggling finding my pics or MS's pics of his SFCs, which look great.

I don't know anyone who regrets installing SFCs. Pretty sure it was the first mod I did to my 69. I have welded Competition Engineering SFCs, which only contact the ends of the front and rear factory frame rails.

If you're considering adding them to your 65, I gotta ask if you have torque boxes on it yet. I'd think torque boxes would be my first fix, then SFCs. Torque boxes by definition resist torque, which is mighty important. And SFCs resist linear forces.
