Sounds to me that maybe you should just buy a hei distributor if the ford ignition box bothers you that bad, msd does make a cheaper smaller box called the street fire, that might take the sting off the price of the 6al if it does go out again, it even has a built in rev limiter no chips and I think you can find one for about $120.
I don't believe any one substitutes hei into a ford dizzy, but you can buy a hei from Davis unified ignItion if you so choose , don't buy pro comp. There is no benefit to hei maybe other than it is all self contained, about all chevy race engines I have been around utilize the msd ford trigger and the hei's have long since been thrown away if that tells you anything. One other option is a Mallory unilite.

Msd distributor's use the same magnetic pickup as the dura spark and a 6 al is basicly a plug play deal with a duras park. In my opinion a properly curved duras park is considerably better than a hei.

The dowel pin is probably a good idea but probably not necessary on the one piece eccentric, 460's did not use a dowel on 1 piece eccentrics, and they used the same size cam bolt as a 302, in fact I have ran 130 gph mechanical on a 460 without it being doweled.

I have the 13.2 brakes, tried coy c 67 17x8  they would work with 5/16 spacer, 1/4 spacer would maybe work very tight at that point until brake pad wears, decided to go with c67 18x8 which I am still waiting for.

Wiring in a new electric fuel pump on my car, it is a carter fuel pump 4601hp for a carbureted engine. The pump is wired with a relay up in the engine compartment and I am running 10 gage wire  back to the pump, and the pump uses a 10 amp fuse.
The main question I have is I want to mount the inertia switch in the trunk and hook it to the 10 gage wire, can the inertia switch handle the amp load. Or is the inertia switch usually wired to the switched low amp side of the relay?

Yes Steve I did get proportioning valve along with brackets and m/cylinder from you last fall, I thought I could tighten the nut on the proportioning valve but it is very tight.
My setup is manual disc drum, You may be right about bedding the brakes, but it looks like I will be bleeding everything again anyways.

Hi, i am new to the site, and just have a couple questions. Currently I just got done putting the mustang steve gt brake setup on my 71 torino, and have two questions.
1. The new 70 portioning valve is leaking or weeping  from under the nut and copper washer that is the threaded in from the factory, this goes to the front drivers side. It only weeps after the pedal is pressed a few times and pressure is up, I have tried to tighten the nut but seems to be dang tight and it does not budge.  Has anyone seen this before?

2. Is it normal for the brake pedal to push down a 1 1/2" before I feel pressure on the brake pedal, and the pedal gets very firm at 2" of travel and feels great from there on out. Or should I have pedal more immediately like after 1/2" of pedal travel?  The pedal does not pump up and does not act like it has air in the system, just wondering if this is normal pedal.

I'am waiting on my new wheels so I have not actually taken it out and tried it but will probably  wait till the weeping brake fluid thing is fixed. The brakes look great and I have gotten a lot of great ideas from this site.
