Thanks RCodePaul. I do have pictures from how far it had to go down before it had to go back up. If I have some time I may do something to write it down. Although I would set that up in the History section of the Forum.

The Vaseline trick sorta worked. I still had gas trying to trickle past as I was putting the float back in, so the gasket started moving around on me. I paid attention to the position and made sure it wasn't popping out on the side this time. Sealed up with the twistie clampie thing and put two gallons in it. No leaks. Drove it by Buccees this morning on the way to work to fill up with ethanol free. Gas gauge is working again.

Interesting idea. Will do. That should keep it from binding also. Thanks for the advice.

Decided the nice day needed to have a nice car drive to work. Got her out of the garage and washed her up. Put five gallons into the tank and did some other stuff. Tom came over and we were yakkin about nothing. Kept smelling gas. He thought it was me, I thought it was him. You know, don't want to embarrass anybody. Went behind the car and saw gas running down the tank onto the driveway. What the what. Then I remembered. I changed out the gas level sender thingee when I got back from California and put the car away for awhile. Crawled under and saw the rubber gasket was poking out from one side.
So.
What is the trick to getting that little square rubber gasket to sit correctly to tighten up without it binding up and popping out.
I hope they sell them at Auto Blown or Orielly's

Unfortunately BobE, I am neck deep in rebuilding the front end of an British old mini 1000. Doesn't really mesh with this group. If I start talking about Moulton rubber suspension cones I may get suspended.

My two cents on these shows. They are all manufactured drama shows. And they just aren't in our Hobby line. Cooking shows, House rebuilding shows, motorcycle rebuilding shows. Gas Monkey was one of many. TV money grubbers saw the opportunity to make money and went with it. The model is almost always the same. That this thing, it has to have this ridiculous modification stuff done to it in this ridiculously short amount of time or something bad is going to happen. All manufactured drama. Cookies, cars or houses were the way to push a perceived drama to get the actors to have drama blow ups and then have to hug it out. Emotions. Tucked in all of that meshing hot mess of dramedy can actually be some nuggets of useful information. Some of the main players of the shows got disgusted with the way they were being manipulated by TV money grubbers and they punched out. Welder Up is a great example. Out of Las Vegas. Read his story and why he chose to pursue his passion for cars and hot rodding over the TV cash. Richard Rawlins I think finally he got fed up with the TV angle but he punched out as well. He was able to outfox and out money grub the money grubbers. He expanded his presence on YouTube and only does show for his brand. He keeps trying and innovating ways to make more money. I have two types of Gas Monkey beers sitting in my shop right now. He used to drink Miller lite no he only promotes his own beer label. Love him or hate him, money flowing is only what keeps our hobby with enough oxygen to keep breathing. Gas Monkey and shows like that finally got me off my fat @$$ and ignited something that said "I want that, I can do that"

OK that was more like 4 or 5 cents worth.

John Ha this does help. I am using a framing jig that Mustang Steve built for another project. I am mostly there I just want to make sure before start welding. It just looks slightly off where the front meets up with the firewall. I need to attach the convertible top and make sure with it opens it meets up with the top of the windshield.

Do the front frames rails run parallel to the rocker panels on the floor pan? Still trying to get the front clip of Anna's convertible set up right before I start tac welding.

Ya'll met Johnny at our Texas bash a couple years ago. Does Hot Rod interiors. 75+ years old and still working on these old cars.
He always calls me and says I need to come see what he has in his shop.
Two cars for sale
1970 Ford XL. One owner never been touched. Body straight. 90K miles on it. 429 beast of an engine that rumbles. I have never seen one. Johnny had only seen one before. Only asking 15K. Anna said no.

1964 Galaxy 500XL. Painted once still looks all original. Same owner. I hate this coral color.

KeithP My 4 post just started dripping from the cylinder but it is the opposite end from where the piston comings out. Same area where the hydraulic line plugs into. I don't know how to find a weep hole. Is this similar to your leak?
Probably similar cheap chinese manufacturer.

First off Anna has a voice again. Isn't 100% but getting there. She didn't get some of it until we were almost home on Friday. Thank you to the people that finally convinced her to get doctor's help. The LONG DRIVE HOME in silence was weird. She did use sign language. Apparently, I am still number one.
