Does anyone have any pictures of the disc brake emergency brake cables routing from the mounting brackets aft?
Thanks

Guys,
Thanks for your help. The pictures and measurements are great.
Now the real fun begins, trying to drilling the holes up there.
Thanks again

All,
I'm installing a dual exhaust system in my '66 convertible. I had the frame rails replaced, but unfortunately there are no holes drilled in the new frame rails for the tail pipe bracket bolts back by the tie down brackets.  Does anyone know the exact location of where these holes should be drilled?  I've seen pictures which show them about two inches ahead of the rear shackle mount behind the tie down brackets, but it would be a guess about how high/low in the rail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm in the middle of restoring my '66 convertible. It isn't on the road yet, but I have put a Vintage Venom 4 wheel Cobra disc brake conversion kit on it, and a MS CK-165 clutch and brake setup along with a 1970 Mustang (non-adjustable) power disc brake combination valve some time back. At the time I did the work, '70 combo valve was the recommended item. Going thru the current MS CK-165 instructions it now recommends the PB-100 for a disc/disc combination. What's the advantage of it over the combo valve?
Thanks, Heem

I looked at that.  But I ended up shaving the tail cone rib to get the clearance I needed. I'll probably also replace the mount just because it's probably came new with the car.  Thanks for the info. Heem

I've installed a '83 T5 into my '66.  When I went to reinstall the emergency brake, I found that the equalizer bar struck the tail cone of the transmission. I'm going to need about 3/8" - probably more - of clearance.  The car had an automatic before.  I reused the old stock transmission mount with the new T-5 swap cross member bar.  All the articles I've read about the swap stated I could reuse the transmission mount, but none of them made any comment about there being any possible clearance problem with the equalizer bar.  I begining to think that maybe the mount had compressed overtime.  I bought the car in 1990 and I haven't changed it, but that seems to be a lot of compression to cause the problem.  Has anyone run into this before?  I'm open to any ideas.
Thanks,

RickD,  You are correct. I Found an old Ford part breakdown book which shows that apparently there were two light setups for the console, one on the back and one on the top.  Thanks.Heem

Thanks for all the responses.  I think I will go with Steve's method (sorta).  I will use the stock seal and contour it to fit the transmission hump.  I also will be using some RTV between the seal and the hump.
Thanks again, Heem

Sorry, but the picture loaded up HUGE.  Obviously, this is the console looking front to rear. See "cross shaped" cutout?  This is what I'm taking about. Yes, there is a light (see green wire), but it is at the top of the storage area and it comes on when opened.  But my question is "what is this cutout for"? Thanks, Heem

All, I'm installing a T-5 in my '66 daily driver.  Is there a need for a shifter seal that fits on the outside of the car between the transmission and the floorboards? It seems this would be needed to stop splashing from leaking into the interior.  The transmission came with a stock shifter seal, but it looks like it mounts on the interior side. Thanks. Heem

All,  On a non-AC console, there is a plastic "backing plate" that installs (snaps in) as the end to the console storage box.  This plate has a cross-shaped cutout which is located off-center on the passenger side.  I've gone through all my resource books and haven't come up with a use for this cutout.
Does anyone have an idea what the cross-shaped cutout is for?  Thanks, Heem

Dropped in the tank and the filler neck.  Everything lined up almost dead on (whoo of relief).  I guess the only issue I have now is fixing the interference between the D/S rear bumper guard bracket vertical mounting bolt and the tank when installed. When the shop did the frame and sheetmetal work, they didn't drill the mounting holes for these brackets.  I was in the process of installing the brackets when I noticed this.
Guys, thanks for all your help.  Seriously.

Got kind of a stupid question.  To make it short, the fuel tank is out of my '66 convertible and I've noticed on my car that the fuel tank opening was 2.5" closer to the drivers side (measured from the inner edge of the frame rail  on each side to the edge of the tank hole opening on each side) than the passenger side. I've got a replacement 22 gal tank and it fits in the opening. I've had the rear of the car replaced (frame rails from just aft of the differential, new quarters, trunk floor, tail light panel, etc. and I was putting it back together when I noticed this today.  I think I already know the answer, but is this "offset" normal?
