Paint & Body » Good body shop in the DFW area? » 4/27/2021 8:26 AM |
This thread is old, but wondering if any of the DFW area folks have had favorable results with a local paint shop. I have heard good things about Mid Cities Mustang in Euless and Advantage Auto Works in North Richland Hills but wondering if anyone has any personal experience. . Any other opinions ?

Swap Meet » Set of wheels and tires for sale - 17x8 grey Torq Thrust 2 $850 » 1/08/2018 9:16 AM |
01/08/17 - Price drop to $750
Swap Meet » Set of wheels and tires for sale - 17x8 grey Torq Thrust 2 $850 » 12/01/2017 9:31 PM |
Have a nearly-new set of four 235/45/17 Nitto Motivo tires on American Racing Torque Thrust 2 wheels 17 x 8 part number VN2157866 with 4 7/8 backspace and 5 x 4 1/2 bolt circle. Includes center caps that have never been installed.
Tires and wheels have 6 miles on them, which is long enough to determine that fender clearance issues exist when installed on a lowered 65 Mustang fastback.
These wheels and tires may fit an early Mustang with rolled fenders, but not one with stock fenderwells even thought some websites say they do fit.
Likely these will fit just fine on the bigger Galaxies or later Mustangs having a larger wheel well or rolled fender lips, but not on a 65 fastback with MS front Cobra brakes and MS rear Cobra brakes mounted on a 57 Ford Fairlane stock width read end.
The wheels and tires look great on the early cars, however suspension travel beyond about 2 inches results in wheelwell to sidewall interference.
Available for pickup in Arlington, TX. Can't ship these things.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » E-brake cable install with MS Cobra rear brakes? » 12/01/2017 8:31 PM |
Thx to all for the thoughts.
I need more Wheaties to pull off the ends from my OEM cable, cause they're swaged on there 'Ford Tough'.
Just trying to glean wisdom from others who have boldly gone where no man has gone before and created a better mousetrap.
How's that for mixed metaphors.
I'll add some pics later as the finished product materializes.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » E-brake cable install with MS Cobra rear brakes? » 11/28/2017 9:41 AM |
I do like the idea of a single cable and use of the 66-style front connector. I'd be interested in opinions on the best way to cut the new housing and still retain the housing ends so that the housing will mount correctly at the caliper and tunnel mount points. Maybe cut the housing halfway between the two ends and reconnect with an outer metal tube, or cut the ferrule on one end and then re-crimp to attach to the shortened housing? Then build a completely new cable that has a new swedge end at each caliper?
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » E-brake cable install with MS Cobra rear brakes? » 11/27/2017 8:45 AM |
I recently installed the MS Cobra rear brake conversion and now looking to complete the emergency brake installation.
Has anyone completed and documented a similar install on a 65-66 car?
I reviewed the brake cable install posted by jkordzi, which looks very nice using the later brakes and cables, but I am looking specifically for the cobra install using the 2000 cables recommended by MS.
Any pointers are appreciated.
Swap Meet » WTB - Set of 17 inch wheels for 65 fastback » 6/25/2017 2:17 PM |
Hey MS, thanks for the note. I'll keep that option in mind. I had some 8 inch rims on the front a while back and they looked great. If the car was parked there were no problems, but when in motion there were problems attempting to turn corners or navigate dips. I think the 7 inch rim in front is a much better fit for my car.

Looking for a nice used set of Torque Thrust II or Coys C5 or Rev or other similar five spoke grey or chrome wheels with or without tires.
Prefer 17x7 and 17x8 staggered set.
Have the MS Cobra brake setup and need 17s to clear calipers.
Have a wide ratio toploader for trade or will buy wheels outright.
DFW location or near driving distance from there.
Swap Meet » Does Anyone Have a Break in Stand? » 8/21/2016 8:29 PM |
Sorry to hear the diagnosis. Sold my startup stand last year so I don't have one to offer. I decided it would be easier to buy one and then sell it after using for my 348 motor in my 65 fastback. Lone Star Manufacturing in Hurst sold them for about $450, and was custom made for the small block Ford. It included battery mount, bell housing and motor mount locations. It also had the hanger for the radiator and electric fan. Sometimes they appear on Craigslist, but if not one near you just search Walmart for the Mobile Engine Testing station. Get one for about $300 and sell it after you finish with it. Even if you only get $200 for it, having use of it for a few months is much cheaper than paying for a dyno for one afternoon. Good luck with the project and don't forget to post some pics of the progress.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Electric vacuum pump to assist power brake booster » 2/23/2016 10:39 PM |
Anyone have success using an electric pump to supplement or replace manifold vacuum when using a brake booster?
I have a cam that produces insufficient vacuum ( about 7 inches at idle ) to reliably operate my power brakes, and looking for an alternative to replacing the cam.
Have a 65 Mustang with 4 wheel 04 cobra brakes with MS install kit and MS roller pedal and booster assembly.
Brakes work great sometimes after building vacuum while driving, but at low speeds power assist goes away very quickly.
Tried adding a secondary vacuum can as additional supply, but provided only limited assistance.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Swap Meet » Ford 9 inch rear axle 390 gears locker disc brakes floater - $1250 » 12/14/2013 10:10 AM |
Ford 9 inch rear differential housing with floater ends and Wilwood disc brakes.
Calipers have no emergency brake.
Locking differential with 3:90 gears.
Width is 57.25 inches, same as 65 - 66 Mustang coupe or fastback.
Also same width as 57 Ford Fairlane.
May also fit camaro, falcon, or other mid-sixties car.
Has leaf spring perches, braided stainless brake hoses, and hardlines.
Housing has two fittings for oil cooler, so if you need a heavy duty nascar type rear for a street or dirt track car, this is it.
Can't deliver this thing, must be picked up in Arlington, TX.

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Rear Disc Brake Cable Connection » 9/29/2013 9:36 AM |
I have a similar issue, but not much available in the way of pics are available that I have found.
MS says to just cut the 94 - 04 e-brake cables to fit, but does that mean you have to remove and replace one end? Which end? Each end has a unique fitting for the caliper mount and the underbody mount. Just cutting off one end would mean you have no way to attach it securely to the mounting point.
I'll keep searching.......
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » brake lines and banjo bolts » 7/22/2013 8:42 PM |
This writeup is awesome, any pics???
Why not use a rear caliper flex line that has the banjo fitting built-in, like shown for the front lines.
That would eliminate one extra adapter and the associated leak potential.
