Some do & others don't have a plug,eh?...OK, I'll check it out & see. Thanks guys

Yea, I'll be careful, have some experience in that regard.*

p___'s me off if to waste the gas, what w/ this State having the highest gas prices. I do use it for weed/brush killer at least.

*True story....around age 21, Wife #1 & went remote 4wd camping...had the 'ol Coleman stove that used White Gas...was also called Naphtha. HIGHLY flammable. Had trouble lighting the camp fire...being highly educated (BS Degree), I knew better then to pour that on the fire, so put a tiny bit in a cup & moved the capped gallon can 3-4 Ft. away. Started a nice flame in the fire...I also saw in slow motion it seemed, the vapor gas trail ignite in a arch from the fire to the closed gallon can...I knew in that instant that not only would it kill me, but I was honestly more worried about burning the forest down w/ no help near by. I garbed fistfuls of dirt & spread it everywhere. The scar on my hand is still visible but the forest was saved. Cheap lesson that I will never forget.

Hey, Bolt...u deserve 2 thumbs up for the Mrs., but for the other guys I got that pic uploaded

After doing 10-12 miles testing out my Most Excellent Cooling System, I'm now not getting gas up to the carb. 75% of the gas in there is probably 1.5 yrs old. I think I had stabilizer in there, but not sure.

Is there a plug on the tank?..or do I suck it out the old fashion way? I'll replace the filter first.
TIA

My Dad drove me & him around West Germany in an Isetta during the early 1960s...what a blast sitting in that seat w/ nothing in front of it....& yes, fitting it in any small place is a plus. However, u do have to accept the fact that if someone front ends u in the parking lot, u will be a fatality.

Those large BMWs r BEAUTIFUL (excepting that color of course). BMW lost their shirt on their bet that they would be popular against the large MBs which were becoming the cars of choice for the West German upper classes after the war. Although the initial price was doable for me, I gave up the idea of importing one when I realized the parts & repair costs would bankrupt me.

Until recently, I used to wave at any pretty youngish gal in what ever car she was driving.

After I noticed them grabbing their phones, then putting up the Fuzz pulling me over & listening to their comments about "Disgusting old pervert", I stopped.

...it's a Cold Cruel World...

I find it promising that so many teenagers at the high school where I sub, are quite knowledgeable about both my 69 mach and 93 bmw.

3 things......

1. Not a fan of newer BMWs (I'm stuck in my teenage years), but have to say that yours is a pretty one....b___'n color. It falls in the middle of the age when designers could still produce some good looking cars to now when cars are safer, faster, more efficient but have no SOUL.

2. Still disappointed that u own a BMW though...sigh...

3. When looking to buy my 4th & final oldie, I seriously looked into these Beemers, but the Mustang won out.

I've now logged two round trips of 60-100 miles each way, mostly highway driving at 75-80 with no issues, plus about 1,500 miles of mostly suburbs/city driving (lots of lights, stop and go, etc) and zero problems.  I drove the car once when it was in the upper 90s with a heat index well past 100 just to see if it got hot.  It ran 205 at its hottest, and given system pressure and my coolant mix boil over would be in the 250 range.  That's with a three row copper/brass radiator, a parts store iron water pump, and a 180 degree t-stat.

As u know, I initially was going to go the mechanical fan/clutch route, since that's what worked to cool the vette. After seeing how much work that would entail, I stayed w/ the electric fan setup. Had to hunt for the proper shroud & fan that would be the best solution, but all is righteous now.

Those of u that have/had owned vettes, MS, TKO, etc, know that there's a tradition (going back to the 1950s I think) to wave at other vettes. When I'm driving one of my oldies, I wave at all other classic cars. The only modern car that I wave at (first) is another vette, when I'm driving my 1966.

When I took the Mustang's cooling test run the other day, a modern convertible Mustang who was heading towards me in the opposing lane, gave a big wave my way. I had enough time to give a wave in appreciation.

I live in a rural out-of-the-way location (there's no just passing through traffic), so I tend to think it was a neighborly gesture as well an acknowledgment of similar cars kind of thing....or am I missing a horsey tradition ? I kind of hope not...as there's too many of the newer Mustangs to start waving to all of 'em.

But being that I'm a out spoken sort of guy, I have to point out that his last photo shows disapointing progress. It just doesn't seem like it's coming together correctly....can't put my finger on it exactly, but it seems, er, off.

"I am serious and don't call me Shirley."

Hey...tinypic decided to play nice this morning..here's the new cooling solution...took a spin around the hood........ dialed in when the fan comes on & temps are Good Look'n!

Had to do a few mods as the Scott Drake fan/shroud is made for their rad not my Dewitt. I also cut off every other plastic fan guard...don't know if that relieved much back pressure, but thought I'd try it anyway

Here u can see how lightly the vin shows on the drivers side.

This is for BB...he said my garage was too clean & tidy...on the rare occasions  when I do actually work on the oldies, it does look like this or worse. Trouble is that I can't sleep at night because it is in this....the German in me demands ORDER!

btw...had to change a tire valve
stem on the MuttiMobile.

PLUS...with your purchase u also receive free of charge, a closer look at one of my wall funnies!

Mucho Thanks JK. Sounds scary to "pull the fender back".

Before trying it, lemme get me facts straight...remove all the top bolts running from firewall to front, then pull the fender towards the outside...is that correct?

The engine compartment looks so pretty, I'm afraid if I remove the paint on the drivers side I'll be left w/ an eyesore.

Nice frame, btw....don't take that the wrong way...I'm straight as an arrow...really.

Thanks for the ideas BB.
When u say remove the right fender, do u mean take the entire fender off? Would loosening the bolts that hold the inner outer parts together allow the # to be seen w/ a light? Could that be done w/o screwing up the paint?

What are u'r ideas about removing the paint on the drivers side fender? The stamping seems so faint, that I'm afraid that after doing that, it still wouldn't allow the entire vin to be visible.

As u said, maybe the auto club would be satisfied w/ the partial vin that is visible & the door plate. If it goes to the CHP, they're kinda predisposed to be looking for stolen cars, I doubt it would be enough to satisfy them. I do have a Get-Outta-Jail-Free card, but they could still be suspicious about the car, not necessarily it's owner. I have no fear that the car is dicey, but would rather not have to take it apart.

Would show ya the new rad/fan/shroud setup but tinypic on strike. I've tried a few times, but will have to just say...f___ it.

TKO should be happy...stayed w/ electric fan. Temps look great as well as the actual setup.

Time to register the beast, so I looked at the Vin #s. Since it's an out of state car, I know the AAA gals will be looking at them & I expect probs. They'll refer me to the CHPies who will want to look at the hidden locations.

Only the last 4-5 #s are faintly visible on the drivers side top fender location. They're covered by the gold paint, plus look lightly stamped. Sure don't want anyone removing the paint. From researching, it seems the hidden #s are under the top of the front fender junctions by the hood hinges . I don't want the CHPies prying those apart to have a look-see. Can't see anything under the fenders through the wheel-well. It's undercoated. Don't know if removing that would make the #s visible. The door stamp is OK, but it doesn't really count in this case.

Got any ideas to might help me out of this quagmire?

Long time ago, in a land far away....had a younger guy looking & talking about my MuttiMobile (the Valiant SW), "Wow you must feel safe w/ all that strong metal around you"

I then politely showed him the pretty metal gadgets inside & how they would rip out my skin, eyeballs, etc in a 5-10mph crash, how the pretty steering wheel would go through my insides, blah, blah. Every time I drive my oldies I know I'm risking mayhem to my lovely features.

Ya know, there's more to life than bringing Zombie Mustangs back to life by welding them together, rebuilding powertrains, refining suspensions. What about us Great Unwashed Masses whose skills have worn away by using up our Bodily Fluids going through life & just need to do a few things to get the Pony running? Let's hear it for the Little People!

In my never-ending quest to find the trivial things to fix, I installed a battery disconnect switch. Got the same type as on the other cars & have had good luck with'em.

Finally looking closely at my Mustang, it shows attention to detail was done by the team that did the cosmetics. Nice vinyl protection next to the terminal so it doesn't come into contract w/ the body...had to extend it a tad now. Wonder why the power-train people so screwed up on the cooling.

Removed the remaining kick panel & those ghetto-blasters in the rear. Seems I don't have to replace that panel, just sand/bondo the holes the installers made. Me thinks if I try to match the paint, it'll stand out. Anything different you guys would try?

If anyone is close enough to come get them, I'd give you the 2 panels & 4 speakers for the price of a cheap lunch. I think rpm is the closest but even he is 3-4 hours away. Don't think they're worth the effort/expense to package & ship 'em.
