1966 Mustang with a 302 from a 93 tbird.  the 302 has the CVF Racing 5.0L-Serpentine AC-only kit installed.  I also have the 4R70W trans installed, and have the cooling lines connected to a new cold case 20" radiator.  The space between the radiator and water pump is only 3 1/8".

What cooling fans/shrouds are you folks using/recommend when the space is this tight?    I've searched the site and  I'm leaning towards going down mechanical fans, but worry I don't have the space.  Thoughts?  any advise appreciated.

Transmission is a ford 4r70W, and engine is a 302 5.0 from a 93 third.  Anybody have or know the size of dowel alignment pins?  or part numbers?

Sorry for the delay, haven't had anytime to post, but,  I ended up finding a new transmission case (took a while) and had a transmission shop swap over the internals.  Hopefully I'll get that engine and tranny bolted up together soon.  Thanks for the help guys appreciate the site/info....  (I will learn from my mistakes)

Spoke with the PA folks.  They indicated that the adapter used for the 6r80 swap will NOT work with a 4r70w/AODE case with the mod 4.6 pattern.  Only option is to find a AODE/4r70w case with the small block ford bolt pattern, and you can swap internals over between the cases.

Ok now off to find a new transmission case.

Engine, 302 (From 93 thunderbird, ford small block bolt pattern)
Long story short, I mis read the tranny tag on a tranny I bought, and thought I bough a rebuilt 4r70w from a 3.8L mustang.  Turns out the tranny came from a 2004 4.6 version.  (3R3P-7000-BA vs 3R3P-7000-CA)

What are my options here, what can be done?
Can I get a new  "tranny case" and have a shop switch the "gears/internals" from old case to new case so I can bolt up to the 302 and continue with my plan, (already bought baumen quick4)?  Or do I need to look and get another tranny built?

Thoughts, comments.?

Hey Guys,
66 coupe, 4R70W tranny.
What are you guys using for shifter handles/cable/linkage for working with a 4R70W Transmission with baumen quick 4 controller?  Are you retrofitting the existing handle/shifter, or running an aftermarket shifter/handle/cables, paddle shift or other?  looking for any ideas......

Thanks guys
I took your advice on a previous post, and ordered a custom torque converter.  I looked around and found these guys. http://www.tcsproducts.com/ .  Talked to one of their guys, and they took a whole bunch of info, like tranny, tire size, cam specs, etc..... and they spec out a "pro street custom converter".

Hey, looking for advice on what rear diff ratio gears to use.  Car has a 302 (bored over .30, eagle pistons/crank, comp cam thumper series(351 cam), edelbrock intake/carb(600cfm), Power world heads(176cc).    I've decided to go with the 4R70W tranny (out of a 2004 mustang, with a stage 2 shift kit),  using the USShift/Bowman quick shift 4 controller.  Tire size will be 235/45.17.  Current rear end is a 9inch small bearing with 2:73 gears.  I don't know enough about how to properly choose, do i go with 3:50, 3:70, 4:11?  Do I look at adding posi/limited slip or skip it?  Any advice?

Know of any good vendors that make a custom one?
It's going into a 1966 Mustang coupe that I've owned for last  25 years.  (Drove if for 5, and spent last 20 years in pieces, now getting put back together).   I haven't looked at the cooling system yet either.  What do you suggest, a separate cooler for the tranny, or an integrated one built into a Rad?

I've been collecting parts over a number of years, while the body was getting fixed at the shop.  (New floors, torque boxes, subframe connectors, rockers)...   Some Custom work was done on the rear, (Shelby style trunk (small stylish spoiler built into the trunk.),  recessed shelby style taillights, etc.....   and a spanky paint job to go with it.  (I'll need to find a hosting site for pictures so I can add a few peeks)

The engine:
I had polled the engine out of a 93 thunderbird, and had it sitting in the garage for a few years, until I had the chance to get to it.  I was going to just get the engine re-ring, and new seals, but when the builder went in, found water in two of the cylinders, so we decided to go and tear it down for a rebuild.  New Crank, new pistons, new cam, new intake, heads.
Brakes:  Mustang Steve GT2008, modified pedal for power brakes, and booster/MC from Mustang steve.  (Bought back in 2008).
Suspension: 4leaf mid eyes springs, 1' lower coil springs, roller spring perches, and roller idler arm, adjustable strut rods, camber kit from (all from open tracker racing).
Small bearing 9" rear end.
Tranny: (4R75W from a 2004 mustang, with stage 2 shift kit installed). or AOD.  (I have both cores, not sure which one to use.

I used to be on the site back in 04,  collecting information, asking a few questions here and there.  (Pre this fancy site upgrade).  And  just recently re-joined in the last few months asking a few questions opinions.
The car has allot of sentimental value, it was my Dad's at one time.  My father in-law started the custom/resto work, but passed away befo

How does one choose the proper torque converter for their applications?

Background:
Starts with a 5.0/302  from 93 thunderbird, that has been bored over with .30, new pistons, new comp cam thumper series(35-600-4), HEI distributor, edlebrock performer intake and edelbrock 1406 carb.  I'm leaning towards using a 4R75 transmission(stage 2 shift kit already installed) using the Ushift (quick2 or 4, haven't chosen one yet) then using the  AOD.
How to you choose a proper torque  converter?

Hey, looking for a clean solution for serpentine belt routing.  Accessories are Alternator and reverse rotation water pump.  Years ago I bought the bullies, and alternator bracket with tensions with SMOG pump delete kit from Blue oval industries way back when.  Just getting ready to install it, but can't find any instructions.  I remember looking at this forum years ago and bought something that was similar to what someone had done on this forum.  Any pics or ideas are welcome.

Hey guys,

Looking to see what options are available to swap in an updated Transmission for a 66 Coupe.  Has anyone swapped in a newer 4RW75, 6R80 or 10R80 trans?  do you know if you had to modify the trans tunnel for clearances?

Currently the engine I have is a 302 from a 93 Thunderbird.  I'm 80% sure the 4RW trans will bolt up directly, but what about the 6R80 and 10R80 ones?

Comments opinions options are welcomed.  I'm just wondering if I'm better off getting an AOD or C4 and Rebuild one of those, or go down the path of a more modern trans.

Thanks guys, but I'm a loooong ways away from getting the 66 on the road.  I've owned the car for over 20 years, and about 15 years ago (pre kids) I had started to strip the car down and get it rebuilt/restored. New floors, rockers, torque boxes, subframe, etc....  Many modifications got done along the way,  Kids came along and the car got put on the back burner.  Now that they are a little order, I'm able to continue with the project.   I'll post a few sneak peaks in the next few weeks.

Hey guys/gals,
Back in 2009 i bought Steve's GT2008 disk brake kit,(wow time flies) and just getting around to have them installed.  Question came up, do you guys install any disk dust shield/ rock shield with the disk brakes?  If so what have you used/modified to work.
