I have a Summit 500cfm carb and the instructions said to put the level in the middle of the sight glass not above the top

My first car at 16 was a 1957 Pontiac. You could destroy almost anything with that front bumper.

I have a Summit carb on my 1966 Ranchero with a stock 302. I can go to the market and shop. When I go to leave it does not want to start. Running and engine off the bowls are at 1/2 full. This has been a persistent problem. I carry a jump pack because it will run the battery down trying to start the car.

I was riding with a friend who had a 1938 Chevy coupe with a built 327. We were racing another car in an industrial area of LA. He power shifted into 3rd and part of the flywheel came thru the floor and out the roof just in front of me. Talk about an adrenaline rush!

Some more info to follow BobE post. My neighbor is a mechanic specialized in electrical. My wife's Grand Cherokee posted some codes so I had him take a look. He fixed the problem and when I asked what happened he said well on January 7th she was going 45 headed north it was 85 degrees and one of the sensors failed. Welcome to the digital age

I was just reading an article in Mustang Specs about the 1970 Shelby. Shelby no longer had an association with Ford for 1970. The article says that all the 1970 Shelby was left over 1969 cars that hadn't sold in 69. They supposedly even reissued vin numbers to make them 1970. Listed the engines as 351 Windsor.

Yes it is true. When I came back home from Vietnam I bought a 1969 428 Cobra Jet with the shaker and it sat down over the carb. I would still have that car if it hadn't been totaled in a wreck my brother was involved in (not his fault)

For me it depends what you plan to use the truck for, I sold my 2018 F150 coyote back to a Ford dealer for close to what I paid. I then bought a 1994 F250 460 with 137,000 miles for $7500. It was garaged all the time and has original paint in great condition. I have three trailers horse, dump and car. I moved recently 50 miles and used all three for the move. Empty the truck gets 14 mpg, the heaviest trailer loaded up to 10,000 gets 10 mpg. My move without the truck would have been a lot more expensive even with the higher price of gas. I only use the truck occasionally not as a daily driver.

I have the same situation as Bullet Bob. I had an older brother who worked for a lot of the older car builders in southern California. I visited him at Boyd Coddington, George Barris, Kugel's shop Chip Foose. He started out at 16 sweeping out Big Daddy Ed Roth's shop. None of them would know me other than Willie Browns little brother.

To give you some background on this mechanic. I had a 1993 Dodge diesel serviced at his shop part of the service was to replace the rear end grease. It had 126,000 miles on the Truck. When I picked up the truck I made it about 5 to 10 miles from the shop and the rear end locked up. I checked and there was grease in the rear end. I called him and he had a tow truck take it back to his shop. A couple of days later he called and said come pick up the truck. There had been a problem with the ring and pinion gear. He handed me the keys. I asked what was the bill he said nothing, it came into my shop working and brokedown leaving. I wanted to at least pay for parts because just a lube would not cause the rear to fail. He said no way will I let you pay anything. That was several years ago now anything I can't do goes to his shop.

Being 75 with bad back and vertigo problems, I took my 66 Ranchero to a local mechanic I trust to replace the heater core. It didn't have hoses. New core, hoses and labor came to 199.50. Small price to pay for wear and tear on the old body.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Mildew problems » 1/08/2022 10:26 AM |
My 66 Ranchero is in my garage uncovered because it would get mildew covered. I am on the coast of Oregon and the humidity is always high. I have a dehumidifier on 24hrs (it starts and stops during that time). Without it 75 to 95 % humidity with it 50 to 60 % humidity.

TKO that has been my concern on all the newer cars. I had a 2018 F150 and traded it in on the Mustang. I keep these newer cars and trucks three to five years and move on, meanwhile drive my 1966 Ranchero with a 302 I've had twenty years as a backup vehicle.

I ordered a 21 Mustang a couple of months ago. It came in two weeks ago so to break it in I drove it from my house in southern Oregon to my brothers house in Northern Washington. With the specs for the 331 it seems the Coyote motor has similar numbers at 460 hp and 420 ft lbs. It has 12/1 cr. The sticker says 24 hwy 17 town fuel milage. I was pleased when I ended with 28.1 with tail wind going north and 27.1 coming home with a head wind.

I had my 1993 Dodge diesel serviced at the local quick lube (they do car repairs also). I drove about 3 miles from the place and the truck started vibrating bad, pulled over and called the lube shop. The owner who I have know for three years came to check the truck. He wanted to make sure they didn't forget to put oil in the rearend. It was full so he had it towed back to the shop. He called later and said upon in inspection the rear end had a problem. It was Friday afternoon so he said call him Monday. I called on Monday he said come pick up the truck. This truck had 126,000 miles on it with a lot of heavy towing. The rear end had seized up and he came in on Sunday and rebuilt it himself. When I asked about paying he said there is no charge. Now knowing how hard I used the truck I said Sam the truck is almost thirty years old and worked hard changing the oil didn't cause it to break down. At least let me pay for the parts. He said absolutely not it broke leaving my shop my responsibility. Needless to say any work my vehicles need that I can't do goes to his place.

Lawyers are good at reading upside down. Mine was with me at an investigation. When we left he said "you won't have a problem" he wrote good notes about you.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
