I guess my hunch to move my butt and finally send my gauge in was right. Did mine last September. I bought an original off of EBay to convert to volts so I could keep my original. (WHY do I DO THAT? It’s just more clutter!!!)

I’ll take my Revology Mustang as a 67 Shelby GT 500 with inboard lights, Red with white stripes, black interior, 10 speed auto. Oh, and I’d also like to be 19 again.

I think the early Falcons did not come with that lower crossmember. Ford learned what Tremendous Wand learned. BTW The ZRay piece is fantastic.

I contacted the guy who does the gauge conversion, as I think this is the very best way to go about it. He does them using your stock gauge. My problem is he does not do or have white face. I have white face overlays on my dash, and I want it to stay that way. No one makes a white face Voltmeter overlay that fits the stock gauge. I wish someone did make one off of his altered Voltmeter face.
I think he can just leave your white face on there. One of his options is to leave it saying AMPS but act like VOLTS. I almost went that way, but I acquired a stock one to convert, keeping my factory gauge for posterity.

I can see the end of the coil is slightly straighter in the top pic. Maybe not as pronounced or as long as I described, but it’s there.
Regardless, the coil is just barely barely contacting the perch tab. It has already torn through the perch pad there at the end. So, is this a problem I should be concerned about?
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Spring and perch » 9/21/2023 9:16 PM |
1966 Mustang, Shelby dropped upper arms, modified lower arms with adjustable inner pivot Heim for camber adjustment. Adjustable strut rods. Roller perches moved outboard 1 inch.
I cut part of the coil springs and ride height is where I want it. The bottom end of an uncut coil spring does not end following the spiral, it goes a little straighter about the last two inches and sits up against the tab on the perch. When that straight bottom end gets cut off the coil, in my case, the coil end now misses the perch tab. Both sides ended up this way. I’ve cut a few springs for this car over the years and have never noticed this. So…
Is this normal?
Is this OK?
Is the spring going to rotate as I’m bouncing down the road?
Is the spring perch moved outward 1 inch a factor?
Is there anything I can do?
Is there anything I should do?
I can’t find any img or upload image buttons to attach a pic.
Thanks in advance.

Centric has a listed replacement lower ball joint. Part 610-61000. They can’t be had anywhere for the last 2+ years, including Summit. It’s the old “drill out the rivets and bolt in new ones” deal. Opentracker, right now, has Moog ones that have been removed from Moog arms for sale for $55 per. Whole arms are less than that, but they are not Moog. Is Moog still superior? IDK.

Let’s see if the link works.
Yep, it should.
The video description says it was posted four days ago. I wasn’t looking for car videos just scenic routes.
Rewatching, I think the car has a ‘65 scoop ornament behind the doors, not ‘66. Hmmmmmm.
42 years ago today I acquired my Mustang! Happy Anniversary, Liz!
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Model year changeover question » 7/27/2023 5:09 PM |
Model year changeover question…I just watched a YouTube video with a new Mustang in it. The video is copyrighted in 1965. The car is a light blue convertible with a blue interior. The car has all 1966 exterior pieces. Grill, rocker panel moldings, gas cap, reverse lights all standard in 1966. Here’s the anomaly, it has a 1965 instrument cluster and a 1965 glove box door, a 1965 dash pad yet has a 1966 low profile Rally Pac. The car has a black California plate indicating it was probably San Jose built. It also had the six “spoke” hub caps with spinners from a ‘65.
Could a 1966 car have escaped the factory with the dash pad, instrument cluster, glove box door and hub caps from a 1965?
My dad’s own early 1965 Mustang had a 64 1/2 hood that was a left over piece but I’ve never seen a 66 with 65 interior dash pieces.

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » What is your Mustang’s build date? » 4/21/2023 11:42 PM |
1966 Fastback, Springtime Yellow
January 20, 1966 in San Jose
Sent to DSO 71, Los Angeles.
Recently discovered the car has a 64 1/2 hood, date code 7/7/64 Cleveland plant 3rd shift. All these years I never noticed the curved lips on the hood front. Most of the front end had been replaced when I bought it on July 27, 1981

Thanks everyone!
The hipoparts store look like they have good selections.
Based on that site's information, I will go with the factory color LEDs for the instrument cluster and rally pac. For the courtesy lights, I think maybe the white light LED?
I think that's the way to go?
The hipoparts site offer three options with the bulbs at varying prices. Does anyone know what these options mean?
The three options for the dash lights are basically brightness and cost. I got the most expensive and brightest and was not disappointed. It will dim “a little.” Apparently with LEDs there needs to be an incandescent bulb or two somewhere in the circuit to allow the voltage to dim enough to affect the LEDs. I’ve been thinking about tweaking with that idea to get more dimmability but that’s down on the list.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » LED Interior Lighting » 1/14/2022 2:36 AM |
Hipoparts.com has a set of dash lights which are done in a beautiful factory aqua color. These are nice. There is limited dimmability in the two of the three sets available. I have them. They are nice.
I tried some other company’s attempt at aqua dash lights and they put yellow and blue LEDs next to each other with no real success. The colors did not blend very well. Give the hipo’s a look.

Happy New Year to everyone, I hope everyone has a better 2022 than the last couple.
Pretty bad when a visitor from down under knows the history better than the bulk of people who live there. Yup the Owens Valley, not too many years ago, was home to a lake that was sufficiently large that paddle wheel steam ships ran on it...Owens Lake. Then William Mulholland (?) came along. A lot of people died over that little deal...but not all the right ones. IMO
Barry, good to see your voice my friend. Believe it or not, I really am going to send that hat. Here's hoping Leonie, the family and you all had a great Christmas and that we will all have a better 2022 than 2021. And, we miss you too.
BB1Barry, I too am impressed with your knowledge of the eastern Sierra Nevada mountains. Mulholland also built the St Francis Dam, which catastrophically failed on March 12, 1928 and killed nearly 500 people including my grandfather. My dad was just 7 when his dad died. My dad never cared too much for anything LA.
I’ve driven my Mustang and ridden my motorcycle down San Francisquito Canyon a hundred times. I stopped occasionally at the spot where the dam was to ponder the horror of that night. For some reason it has been an interest of mine since I heard about it around 1985. I think the Eucalyptus trees along Hwy 126 going out to Ventura were planted to remember the lives lost. I’ve never known someone personally connected to that event until now.
