FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Possible 351C Boss engine find » 3/30/2025 2:30 PM |
It might be just me but when I look at the picture of the engine it appears to have been rode hard and put away wet.
I sure would have a more detailed inspection before purchasing.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » 1965-66 tail light buckets do yall normally replace the whole bucket » 3/27/2025 2:12 PM |
Thanks Rufus. The LED’s that I used were individual trailer units, three on each side and I have them set up for sequential operation.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » 1965-66 tail light buckets do yall normally replace the whole bucket » 3/26/2025 9:47 AM |
Instead of buying all those sockets just eliminate the buckets and hardwire the LED's. Thats what I did.
That cleans up the trunk and gets a bit more space.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » 1965-66 tail light buckets do yall normally replace the whole bucket » 3/23/2025 1:56 PM |
Rusty original buckets can be cleaned up by removing the rust and painting them white.
As for the socket I think new ones are available from NPD.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Car went in for paint Friday (3/14) » 3/18/2025 8:27 PM |
I’ve had more experience using lacquer paints the “ newer” formulations. I used to really enjoy how lacquer jobs turned out, the more you shot on, the better it looked and hours of wet sanding was a must.
The water based paints seems totally alien to me!
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Started wet sanding » 3/17/2025 1:37 PM |
That’s an interesting colour, seems similar to mine which is non Ford.
My paint is a single stage urethane with hardener that did not need wet sanding or buffing, it’s called “Rosso Swift” a 1990’s Italian colour.

I get what Steve is alluding to. Do you have a lower steering column bearing on the steering shaft?

Check grounds.
On these old car’s faulty grounds are very common

I really like the body colour engine bay.
I still wish I did that.

Did you check the fuses?
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » KRC power steering pump » 3/03/2025 10:57 AM |
My hydraulic pump experience is more industrial than automobile but I have learned that cast iron bodied units far outlast aluminum ones.
As far as power steering goes, I don’t know why more guys don’t go electric. To each his own I suppose.

The unsung hero of that movie though is the driver of the Charger. Bill Hickman. Noted stunt driver, stunt coordinator and hobby racer. He was close with James Dean and coached him on his driving technique. Unfortunately Bill was the first person on the scene of Dean's death in Cholame (pronounced show-lamb.)
Bill Hickman should be a household name. But he is not. For car guys the chase scenes Bill created should be required regular watching. Eff FaceBook, binge on Bill Hickman chase scenes.
And maybe the best thing of all about Bill Hickman is that he and RPM's dad are dopplegangers.Bill Hickman may be cool, but he ain't 1936 Harley Knuckhead cool like Gene McDougal.

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » 1968 Mustang FORD 8" Rear Disc Conversion » 2/23/2025 11:50 AM |
My rear disk set up is from a Lincoln MK VII rear. I got the cores from a salvage yard and got remanufactured ones from a local parts store. I made sure I pulled all the bracketry and hardware as well.
I made the brackets cause I hate spending $$$ on stuff I can do myself.
All told I have about $250.00 invested and thats in Canadian dollars back in the early 2000's
Here are some pics of what I did.
Not being reproduced the splash shields were challenging.
The parking brake cable bracket was a real PITA, I had to make about three of them before I got one I liked.

I can remember a situation years ago when driving back to Canada from a MCA show in August, from Georgia.
The weather was in the high 90’s, humid as a rainforest with pouring down rain.
Of course we couldn’t roll down the windows and even with the cowl vents open and the defrost on the windshield interior was fogged up to the extent that my wife had to continually wipe it clear with a towel.
When we got home she said that was the last long distance trip she would go on without AC in the car.
The next day I ordered a CAA kit and it’s proved to be worth every penny.

JDmade 2 and 3 cyl water cooled mower engines in-house. The x700 and x900 had water cooled engines , they also used Koehler and Yanmar engines, iirc.
The John Deere products made for industrial, ag. and commercial use are made to a higher standard than stuff sold at Walmart

REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
