Yup, Rudi.  They tell you to run the machine in reverse and start at the relief butt (TS&T) with a screw-on chuck I get a bit nerval about that.  I just turn a relief at the upper end and engage the back gear to run it real slow.  Disengaging the split nut stops it just fine...no issues.

Thanks Tom, had to do it twice to remember how to do single point threads.  Good deal for everyone.

Thanks for the pic, Bob, I think of Ted every day.  Still miss him so much.  The folks who made it to our Bash in 2016 certainly got a taste of his fine work set out in the shop Saturday night.

Bullet, the 65-66 you are familiar with is different than the 69-70

Sorry...that's the trouble with limited smarts.

Ft. Walton Beacb Bash is where I almost lost my nuts...UCA nuts, that is.  Thanks to RV6, RPM, and Josh-K-Bob, we found the problem, semi-fixed it and finished the trip to Tubo's.  I did not know you could carry that many tools in a 69 FB...but RPM proved that you can.  He must have had 2000 lb overload spring in the rear of that thing.
No trailer Bob!!   Get in on the road and run a thousand miles or so on it.  If it hangs together, it's good to go.  Goofy stuff can happen but that's life.  I took the heap to NE and back in May, drove it all over the place through the summer and then to Bako with no problems.  Then it crapped out in the middle of LA on the way home.  Shxx happens.  Deal with it.  Just be as ready as you can be and go.  You'll be glad you did.

Hate to disagree butt (TS&T)  I believe that was 2010, Ovilla Bash, Mikes crappy Grant horn switch...our first Bash and back when Sal would drive his car to the Bash.
2011 was Daze Bash in Kalispell, as I recall.
Not that any of this make a dang bit o' difference.

Maybe, Ed, you could get your FB on the lift and use a laser level to shoot to the wall or a flat target in front of the car from the front rails and the rockers.  Measure between the dots on the wall and compare to the space between the rails and rockers back by the firewall.
Yeah, I know this sounds goofy and prolly makes no sense, butt (TS&T) it's the only think that came to mind this early.  Sorry.

Keep in mind that the AOD converter is "locked up" in overdrive no matter what rpm its turning.  In OD it is using the "outer" input shaft exclusively and that is solid to the TC shell.  If I remember that keerectly.

I ran a 2800 in mine for years.  Mostly stock 5.0, 3.55 gears, didn't find it to be weird in any way.

John, you should have gone with a 200 since everyone is throwing them out.  Years ago when a lot guys were stuffing Pinto engines in their Model A's, I knew a guy who put a Model A-Riley 4 Port-Winfield equipped engine and a C4 in a Pinto hatchback.  Told everyone it was the cheapest way to go...all the scrap A engines and Pinto bodies.....Right!
Butt (TS&T) that thing went like stink.  On one of our LA to Vegas runs I watched him run off from a 911 on the Baker Grade.

My friend's 64 Falcon has the stock 3.25 rear (mountain states DSO) and a 3.35 T5.  It works very well for normal driving and doesn't seem to be too quick to run out of first gear.  I would not think a 3.55 or 3.80 would make me happy with a 3.35 first gear.  My Fox had a 2.95 (T5Z) and 3.73 and it always felt just right to me.

I just swapped the stock double din radio in my '01 Ranger for a 7" LCD radio with Android Auto/Apple Carplay, reverse camera, bluetooth, etc, etc.  Love it, and it was one of the more reasonably priced units, just over $200 with the install kit which you won't need.  I
I've had a Retro  II in the Heap since '15 and while others have complained about the Retro, I've been pretty happy with it.  I bought it for the BlueTooth which, with my crappy hearing, I absolutely have to have if only for the phone.
The new unit in the Ranger has simple menus for setup, etc. and you don't need to make the time change cause it grabs it from your phone when it connects...or, at least mine did.
Hate to see the cut dash but it sure is nice to have the GPS displayed on the dash and the driving instructions coming through the speakers....just like a modern car.

Needed a 1/4" x 1/8" pipe compression fitting years ago to connect an ice maker.  Closest place was auto zoo so I gave 'em a try,  After waiting in line for a few minutes, the kid asked, "Ah, what vehicle is it for?"  I thought for a sec and said, "Frigidaire", and drove to a hardware store.

Well, actually...the air cooled VWs did have a thermostat...sorta.  It was inside the engine tin and operated a set of flaps that controlled air from the fan.  A bi-metal thing,

Well, according to Gargle Mops, total mileage from Atlantic Mine to Marysvill, Ks (Allan' place) to Pine Junction, CO (RV6's Place) to Montrose, CO (my place) to Bako (the bash) to Houston,TX (Glen and Steve and Coupe Daddy's Place.  And Dans brother, I think) and then back to Atlantic Mine, MI is a total of over 5600 miles.  Add in all the general running around everywhere (I know he did around 300 at the bash, I know I did) and it ain't hard to see just short of 6400 miles.
Hell of a  cruise, LT.  Proud of you and your very fine '65.  Everyone should strive to make their classic drive as sweet at your car.  Mine is decent but I will work hard to make it as fine as yours.

Mike:  I just found your post of 10-24...been doing a bunch of other stuff.  I really want to thank you for the offer.  As it worked out I managed to drag the exhaust on a high crown driveway while turning around after we got off of the freeway.  That seems to have pushed the headpipe into the shift linkage.  That and the fact that my co-pilot was not happy with the prospect of nursing it home helped me make the decision to trailer it.  More $$ but less hassle.  Ended up taking it to friends in Hemet and forgetting about the Fountain Valley visit.  Then loaded it onto the Uhaul for the trip to Colorado.  Thanks again for the offer,  amazing group we have here as I'm sure you discovered in your first Bash trip...hope we see you again next year.

John:  Right you are, John, about being able to deal with it.  I can and would have tried to nurse it home but...my girl would have been very nervous all the way, and it likely would have quit a time or two more...not worth it.
You need to get to a Bash too, John.  Hook up with Dan next time he's heading south, or Alan over in Kansas.  My issues not withstanding, driving across the country in these thinks is an absolute blast.  Hope to meet you someday....soon!  Who knows how much more cruising time I have.  LOL
