for those of you who think this engine is a good transplant for your classic, take my word for it, PITA. the videos on line show how and what to replace but i've yet to find one that says anything about all the external componets that need to be removed

Tips and How-To's » 2011 LINCOLN MKX » 10/23/2022 3:23 PM

nothing at all like a small block ford. when the water pump fails, it will develop a leak externally, some of the time. but it will dump the anti freeze in the oil pan to. i told my wife after i get this fixed, that is "IF" i get this fixed. i am considering getting rid of it and buying something where people who design where not idiots. anyone who thinks the 3.5 and 3.7 ford engines are great are preeminent idiots.

Tips and How-To's » 2011 LINCOLN MKX » 10/21/2022 5:24 PM

anyone replace a water pump on on of these fine piece of work dura tec engines, 3.5 or 3.7? seems i can not find the information i am wanting. does the power steering pump need to come off and if so how? does the alternator need to come off too? i always thought id like on of these engines in my falcon, NOT ANY MORE!!! what engineer puts a water pump inside the engine? got to be one of the most stupid ideas i've ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!

i don't get to this site as often as i did while building my falcon about 12 years ago, over the years i've helped friends with their cars, some of that help included coming to MS to get answers, on my behave i want to thank you for all of your help, not just from you but everyone associated with this site. you and so many others have helped the hobby grow. it would be interesting to know the number of cars this site may have saved, i suspect it would be in the thousands. thank you.

further research shows that the factory connector for the resistor module could be burnt, looking forward to looking at that tomorrow..

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » 2011 f150 » 7/12/2022 9:40 PM

seems that the resistor module was bad, tasted the fan motor as suggested, it seems to be fine, so i replace the resistor module. i will find out tomorrow

radio/Cd worked fine for a month or two

i have a problem with my A/C on my 2011 f150 . the blower all on it's own slows way down, up still can feel wisp of cool or cold air, then it will start picking up speed again all on it's own. about 6 weeks ago i installed a new radio and CD player, it never happened before that, and this issue just started. getting ready for a 700 mile road trip, here in west texas it sure would be nice to have it fixed for that trip.

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » power steering issue » 6/07/2022 6:07 AM

power steering linkage is in the car, the movement is where the pitman arm attaches to the original power steering drag link.

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » power steering issue » 6/06/2022 6:17 PM

all tested with wheels on the ground and you could actually see the movement between the pitman arm and the drag link

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » power steering issue » 6/06/2022 3:56 PM

i am helping a friend with a 67 mustang, appears to at one time having factory power steering. when he bought the car there wasn't a pump or bracket on the engine. he had electric power steering installed on the car, and after i have driven the car it seems a bit too hard to steer even with the setting set to full assist.                                                         now for the issue, the car has almost 1/4 turn of the steering wheel before the tires start to move. after checking under the car, the movement is coming from the pitman arm where it  attaches to the drag link.                                         do i replace the pitman arm along with the drag link and while i'm at it, replace the idler arm as well?

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » prius elect power steering » 5/13/2022 5:00 PM

I HAVE BEEN LOOKING IN THE Mustang steve store. looking for the bearing set up that goes in the bracket that holes the brake and clutch peddles. haven't been able to find them the issue is one side of my bracket is stretched, oval, if there is another repair i would entertain that idea as well.

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » prius elect power steering » 5/11/2022 6:41 PM

has anyone found a manual, directions, video on installing a prius electric power steering up grade to their first generation mustang or falcon?? i 've looked and haven't found what i am looking for either here or on the internet. i would actually like to have it in paper form.

i am glad you mentioned about other parts needing to be moved or loosened, i suspected that as well, thanks for confirming my suspicions.
there is no room to move the doors back, i would be surprised if the fender had to move more than 1/32"

back in the early 70's a friend of mine had a brother who owned a speed and machine shop. he told me that he and his brother put chevy valves 2.02 and 1.60. heads were ported at least that is what i remember. the engine was built to the hilt, scot told me that it had the most aggressive cam that crane built at the time.

so that would be two? correct? i did open the door and i looked for another bolt, behind the fender on the outside of the post, i didn't see one. when i say this car is put together, i mean bumper, splash pan, head light, every thing. does any of that need to be loosenedd or removed?

i have a friend, that has a  first generation fast back. it has been painted, and the drivers leading edge of the door is getting chipped from rubbing the drivers side fender. the car is totally assembled, i am trying to help him get the fender moved forward, we loosened the fender bolts on top of the fender and the one at the bottom. what else needs to be loosened or taken off to get the required adjustment.?
