Are bolt in sub frame connectors worth installing on my 66 coupe?
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Edelbrock 600 carburator » 8/23/2016 9:29 AM |
I have it where it no longer stalls. I do know it is running rich, I think I will buy a calibration kit and attempt to improve it even more.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Edelbrock 600 carburator » 8/22/2016 9:11 PM |
I reset initial timing at 17 degrees BTDC and adjusted idle mixture screws. Engine idles at 15 inches of vacume at 850 RPM. and no longer stalls.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Edelbrock 600 carburator » 8/12/2016 10:58 PM |
Thanks BobE the engine will stall both cold and hot. Cold idle is set at about 1200 RPM. I have not worked on it in a while but I think I will take 6Sally6 advice and give it more initial advance.

It does not have detonation, when I get to it I will try more initial timing. Thanks

My 66 coupe has a 5.0 engine with the E303 cam AOD trans with 3.80 diff. The Edelbrock 600 sits on Edelbrock air gap intake. Problem is eng. is prone to stalling almost like idle circut is too lean. The carb is a 1406 with stock jets, idle mixture screws are set for highest vacume 14 inches at 850 rpm. Timing is set at 12 degrees BTDC. Thanks for your help.

Has anyone tried the new Wagner OE X pads on Granada Brakes? They are well vented. Wagner claims quicker stops and longer life..
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Mallory unilite leaks engine oil » 6/10/2016 10:56 PM |
The Distributor shaft has .030 end play. PCV hose and valve are new and working properly.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Mallory unilite leaks engine oil » 6/10/2016 9:23 AM |
The weep hole is on the bottom of the housing. I don't know if the housing would fill with oil if the hole was plugged, perhaps the oil would drain back past the bushings. I also thought the outer o ring was the problem, so replaced it with another new o ring. I can touch the bottom of the housing near the weep hole and get oil. The oil ends up on the flange of the housing and spreads from there.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Mallory unilite leaks engine oil » 6/09/2016 8:39 PM |
My 66 coupe has a 5.0 which runs a Mallory unilite distributor. Oil is going up the shaft into the housing and out the weep hole in bottom of housing, makes a mess. Has anyone encountered this? How did you fix it? Thanks Whitestang.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Power brake booster vacuum pump » 5/06/2016 7:40 PM |
This booster came out of a Ford Fairmont as I recall. It is the one that Mustang Steve suggest using with the modified brake pedal and a 1 inch bore dual master cyl.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Power brake booster vacuum pump » 5/06/2016 2:33 PM |
Jerseyjoe the engine was idling at 800 rpm. I was reading some info on brake boosters and the info stated 18 inches of vacuum was needed to properly operate a booster.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Power brake booster vacuum pump » 5/06/2016 10:50 AM |
My 66 Mustang has a big cam in the engine, 14 inches of vacuum at idle. The car has Granada brakes with a power booster, the booster needs more vacuum. Thinking of installing a vacuum pump. Has anyone done this? Was it a after market or from another car? Any info is appreciated.

Has anyone installed a Edelbrock 7521 Airgap intake with a 600 performer carb and the 289 high performance air cleaner under a stock hood on a 66?

Barnett468 correct me if I'm wrong. You are saying I could use a 289 timing chain and the fuel pump cam on the 5.0 Thank You

Thanks Barnett I read your post again. I do have the early a/c system. It sounds like the 7 bolt 50 ounce damper is the answer. Thank you.

Thanks everybody for your advice. I'm especially interested in Terrys reply. He has done exactly what I want to do, which is to use all of the 289 accessories and v-belts.

I want to install a 302 roller in my 66 coupe, I plan on using a set of C8OE heads with 53cc chambers. My biggest concern is the harmonic balancer and crank pulley, ( will the crank pulley line up with the A/C compressor, PS, and Alternator. I'm using the v-belts). The car has a AOD transmission with a 3.80 gear. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Oil consumtion » 10/19/2013 8:54 PM |
Thanks Pablo, and Steve. The baffle in the valve cover is in place, however the alluminum spacers under the covers has raised the baffle 1 3/8 inches. I can see alot of the valve springs on either side of the baffle. Looks like I need to extend the baffle or replace the covers, and then test. Thanks for your help, I hope I'm on the right track.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Oil consumtion » 10/18/2013 11:12 PM |
My 66 Mustang has 2,000 miles on a fresh 289. The engine runs good and strong but is using a quart of oil in 350 miles. Compression pressures run from 180 to 165. The engine is running full roller rocker arms with stock valve covers, the covers have alluminum spacers under them for rocker clearence. I pulled the PVC hose off and found evidence of oil. I'm thinking the PVC system is at least part of my problem. Has anybody experienced this? Does anybody have any ideas?
