The engine has a 195 degree thermostat. I set the controller to come on at 195. I drove around yesterday for 15 miles with the AC on, squealing belt all the time, and the temp never went over 195.

I think a thermostat is just starting to open at its rated temp, not fully open for at least another 10 degrees.
you're effectively trying to keep the stat closed.
On my 95 donor, with a factory 195 stat, using the big 95 2 speed fan the ecu doesn't turn low speed on till 210 degrees. It's not needed until natural airflow through the radiator is insufficient.
I suspect a Contour has similar settings. What is your off setpoint?
You maybe turning on the fan unnecessarily.

Hail Mike, I saw more classics than that driving down to San Diego Saturday, and it got wet half of the trip. True story.

Hey Bob, If you've never been, stop in Carlsbad on the way, for a visit to the Joe Martin museum.
It's a real eye opener!

Next time, Barry, we'll leave the girls home and spend the day...really get to see it.  LOL
Hope Leonie and you are well.  Hows the 67 coming along?  Will we see you in Sept?

It's a date Bob ... and Bob.
The 67, I still haven't fitted out the shed so not a lot of movement on any cars.
September, only something major, (like a lack of money), will keep us away.

We park Mustangs at our church during Mustang Week here at the beach. (It's a major Mustang deal!)
We have room for roughly 200 cars.
A couple of "establishments" have events(burnout pit...live music and such) and we park some of the overflow..

The 3 nights we parked Mustangs there were a total of....'wait-for-it'...3 classics ! (4 if you count mine!
Mine sounded the best !!...All the rest had that buzzy rice-burner OHC whirrr! Sure there were a bunch of turbos and coyotes butt they didn't sound like real Mercuh arn ! (Rant over!)
So get use to it fellas the real Mustangs are driven mostly by old guys who get out less & less.....

Correct Dan. There's a guy down here that does have a setup that bolts together, no one has a problem with them.

Come on down Sal. Forget doctors and lawyers, the new millionaires are tradesmen.

Dan, I also want to thank you for your efforts to find me a 65 radio. I'm pretty sure that it was down to you that I was offered a free one at Bob's Bako Bash. ( thanks again Jeff).

In the interest of passing it on, I've listed the brackets for free on the swap page.

For a Mll front end, to anyone who will use them (no resale).
I will deliver to the Bash, so you've gotta be there as well.

Yikes!  What could possibly go wrong with welding a heavy gauge mounting bracket to a cast iron steering box, which I''m sure was already machined before they did the welding?

I once had a conversation with BB bout my concerns with a bracket welded to cast iron. He pointed out that it could be cast steel. I never researched it further once I found out it was illegal for me to use.

They weren't legal for a car that was staying LHD. We aren't allowed to have welds in crucial components.
The only exemption to that was the center link when converting to RHD, we useta cut and shut them, but the Engineer that certified the work, had to have a certificate that showed a weld map, x-ray results, and a serial number that was traceable to the welder.

I once bought some MS front cobra brackets from a member here, when i finally opened the parcel in Oz, I found they were for a Mll front end. I thought, no problem, I'll just sell them to someone doing a Mll swap.
Finally found the one guy in the country who was doing the swap, and sold him them.
He showed them to his Engineer, who advised him he wouldn't approve their use, because they were welded. So I refunded his money.

Long story short, if anyone who can use them ... not resell, wants them gratis, I'll bring them to the next Bash we get to.

I know the first ones had a steel mounting plate welded to the cast body, before it was cast into it.
There may have been other changes as well.

I saved the stickers from the hoses that fit my swap, but that one did not survive the house move.
I seem to remember it was a top hose from a 6 cyl bronco

That is a Malwood pedal.  they make a good product and the pedal alone can be had for about $700.  Not a fan of a hydraulic throwout bearing.  You lose the clutch "feel" and if... no check that WHEN the bearing fails the transmission needs to be pulled to replace it.

Yep, everything Day said. Mal's shop is bout 60 miles down the road from me. He does make good stuff.
I'm also not a fan of a hydraulic throwout bearing. I'd be using Day's slave setup.
Cheaper without the bearing.

Gidday Terry. It takes a certain amount of horsepower to turn a non clutched fan, all the time. A thermal clutch only costs a similar amount of power when engaged. Out on the highway, when there is sufficient airflow, they will be disengaged, in town in stop and go traffic where you need it, they will be engaged.
I always prefer thermal, over non-thermal.

Steve, did you cut out the whole slot? I'm thinking of only cutting from the original hole outwards. I should never be looking for positive camber, so why cut it all out??
