About 10 years ago I also went to the local JD store and bought a 48" riding mower, it was the biggest piece of crap that I ever bought. I would absolutely never buy another one. Thanks for letting me give them some free advertisement and letting me vent a little, cuz I'm still PO'd at that deal.

I guess I'm the odd one here, I liked Iron Resurrection, Bitchin Rides, Graveyard Carz and Fantomworks. I even occasionally watched the guy from Texas that mainly rebuilt trucks of all sizes and an occasional car. I know those deadlines were all scripted but still enjoyed seeing all of the mods and how they did them.
I'm going to miss those shows.

I ordered the truck and it was supposed to come with a 3.55 LS. It said it had one on the window sticker. I don't think that I was ever under the truck to look at the tag on the rearend. I just know that I was disappointed that both wheels wouldn't pull going up the driveway.
Yes when it snowed I always hoped that it would snow enough so that I could fill up the box with snow to put some weight over the wheels. I've been driving a pickup since the 90's so I know all about the weight in the box. That's the only way I could get up the driveway, and even then I occasionally had to leave it at the bottom of the hill and walk up to the house. Used to tick me off when I couldn't get up the hill and my wife's front wheel drive car would cruise right up.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Another Limited Slip question. » 11/23/2024 7:54 AM |
Many years ago I ordered a new Ranger and I made sure to order it with a 3.55 LS rear. The reason was that where I lived had a long uphill gravel driveway which was always hard to get up if it snowed. Well the first time after I got the truck it snowed and I thought I would be able to go right up the driveway, wrong. Only one wheel would spin, it never pulled with both tires. I would rev it up, I would rev with foot on the brake, trying to get both wheels to turn and it never did. So did I have a faulty rearend, or is that normal on ice for only one to pull? I no longer have that truck and have never had another LS rear since.

I know that there is a mechanical drawing of the entire bottom of the car. It shows the measurements of all of the mounting holes and everything you would need to put the entire bottom together. I'm not at home so can't access my drawing but surely someone on here would have that also. From this drawing you could literally make a jig to set up how the bottom would go together. I'm going home for Christmas. If no one on here has a copy I could send it to you then.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Can’t figure this out » 11/02/2024 8:23 AM |
I would say for whatever reason it got out of it's station without being welded, so when it was kicked into a repair area, the repairman did an ugly welding job. Even though we can't say much for it's aesthetic value, it has held up for over 50+ years.

If I was home in Indiana I would check it for you, Knox is about 60 miles from where I live, butt(TS) I've already made my yearly trek to Florida so I'm probably 1000 miles away right now.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Mustang Related, Has anyone seen the Izervay drug commercial » 10/24/2024 6:43 AM |
I know the purists won't like it but it doesn't look too bad. This lady is driving an orange colored 65/66 Mustang convertible with the door/fenders indented areas removed. You can find it on Youtube by doing a search for Izervay.
Just for conversation, what say ye?

You probably already have done this, but I would definitely feel as many wires as I could get my fingers on and see if any feel hot. If it's smelling you would be able to feel the heat. Don't want a fire or melting other wires that would be near it.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » 2016 Mustang battery deader than a door nail again. » 11/03/2023 6:35 AM |
I feel your pain. I have 5 vehicles and it seems like I have to buy a battery every year or so. They just don't last like they used to. You might get a couple years out of them. The best thing is to have one of those trickle chargers on a vehicle that sits for a while, because the worse thing is to let one go completely discharged. seems like they are pretty much toast after that.

MS, if I am reading your readings right, your trans. is down 2.9 and your rearend is 2.7 down. If that's the case, that will never work correctly imho. First of all I'm no mechanic and all I know about driveline angles is what I read and what a friend of mine, who worked for Ford, told me. This friend would set the angle between tandem axles on heavy duty trucks. Yes, even that short little driveshaft had to be angled correctly. I know I have read your posts about this problem that won't go away for quite some time now. Maybe you have tried this, I can't remember. I would raise the trans. as much as I could and then tilt the rearend up...if the trans is tilted down say 1 or 1 1/2 then you want the rear tilted up 1 or 1 1/2. The lines extended out from each should be parallel, they should never intersect which is what I'm reading on your angles. If I'm wrong about this please forgive my rambling on, and please someone correct me if so. MS it would be nice if you posted a side view drawing of your angles.

Actually never really left, I stop in pretty regularly and read the posts, just haven't replied to anything.
I was reading the post about Ads and Rudi said "have we been hacked". Which reminded me that my computer was hacked a few weeks back, I had friends calling me to tell me that they had gotten e-mails that wanted them to send money to some A-hole to help me out. I only had a few e-mail addresses from this site, so hope no one got one of those con e-mails.
To keep this Mustang related I still have my 66 Vert, don't drive it much anymore. I need to pull the motor one more time and clean up some issues with fuel lines, brake lines, speedo cable, wiring, etc. I seem to have lost interest, the thought of crawling around under the car, rolling around on the concrete is not something I look forward to. The old body doesn't like that kinda work anymore. I go to Florida in the Winter and for the last several years when I'm down there I tell myself that I'm going to get back home and work on the car, butt(TS) eye get home and never touch the darn thing.. Hopefully I'll get started this year.

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » How to mount gas pedal in 68 for cable ???? » 11/18/2016 5:31 AM |
Steve the best that I can remember, I put the pedal where I wanted to mount it and then pressed it up and down while my brother watched it at the back of the motor to see if it was opening all the way. I do remember that I had to raise it some, seems like I just bent a L piece of sheet metal and either drilled and bolted or tack welded it to the bottom of the GP bracket then mounted it to the floor. Sorry no pics I'm in Florida for the winter.

Who is the distinguished looking Vietnam Vet on the right? Since I am one, when I see those hats I always have to ask what unit they were with. Tell that "brother" I was in the 25th ID, 1969.
