Okay. I bought something I did not need. I'll hold onto it until I meet someone who owns a full size Ford. BTW, the part comes with push buttons (x-mas trees that require holes to be drilled) to hold it in place instead of glue.
My C4 part is held in place with heavy duty staples. I had to drill 1/32" holes for the staples. It may have been an option back in 1964 or used on certain drive train configurations., since I do not remember my Falcon having one. I have owned it for 28 years.
Thanks for the good responses.

I bought something from MacsAutoParts that I either will not need on my 1964 Falcon, or it goes somewhere I am unfamiliar. I probably thought I needed it, but maybe the other seal below is the 1964 equivalent.
Macs lists it for 1965 and up Fords. If someone can use it let me know or maybe one of you can tell me where on the car it goes. Macs could offer little help in locating its position on the car.
BTW, I installed the Radiator Support-to-Hood seal (P/N C4DZ-16A238-A), which my car does use.

I did not see your response until today and appreciate your asking. I am still working on it. I live in NC but work near Chicago. Each time  home, my wife and I would be concerned with too many other things for me to spend much time on the car. I have since trailered it to A garage near my work, si I can work it in the evenings and w/e's.
I just put the front fenders back and will get the hood on in a week or so.
The headliner, windshield (F&R) are next, then the interior.

I just found this Ford archival film that shows the assembly line. It is interesting that so few safety precautions/practices were in effect.

Thanks for the response. The spots noted are small (slightly smaller than described), and I will leave them alone. They have lasted for 56 years already.
What is the consensus on body fill? Can I go with the Evercoat Rage Ultra rather than the Everglass?

How prevalent was the use of lead at the factory during production?  I have owned my 1964 Falcon for 28 years and am in the middle of performing body work. The car showed no major signs of damage from the time I bought it. However, in repairing some rust spots, I have found lead in the center of each 'C' pillar (~1"x 3' or 4" ) and a small spot (~1/2"X 1.5") at the base of each 'A' pillar. There is no evidence of any lead anywhere else on the car. Also, the lead-free solder I am using will not bond to the old lead/solder that probably has some lead content.

I am looking for a reliable source of interior paint for my 1964 Falcon. The Ford paint code for the matte (or satin) is 1578, while the DuPont code is 9094-LH, Medium Metallic Blue. This color is very similar to the 1965-66 Mustang interior color, which would be acceptable to go with the Falcon's original upholstery two-tone shades of blue.
All responses will be appreciated.

When installing the front and window gaskets, should sealant be applied on the frame before installation and/or under the gasket between the glass and the gasket?

My 1964 Falcon will be painted its original Wimbledon White. However, the dash and interior trim is a medium blue. How can I find the exact name of the interior color? Is this info on the VIN tag?

The window came out with few problems, following the advice posted. I did not need the silicone, although I did have a can on hand. Thank you both.

Here I am again, a 1964 Falcon owner, and loyal Mustang Steve follower. Can someone offer suggestions to remove a rear windshield gasket that is dried out and super hard? I cannot find any info on YouTube for the Falcon rear window. Mustangs are covered somewhat better. I think the clips are different or nonexistent on the Falcon.

I am installing a  replacement section of roof skin near the diver's 'A' pillar. Before I fill the spot weld holes, is there a sealant that can be applied between the new skin and the windshield frame?

Great advice from all of you. I have opted to clean and rebuild the original hinges. I did  confirm with Chicago Mustang in Bensonville, IL, that the Mustang hinges will not interchange with the Falcon. After completing one set, I will post a couple pix. For the record, I have owned a couple 1966 Mustangs in the past.

Thanks, Jim. I may decided to brush it. I would then have more control over the parts. TM

I thank you for the response.
The hinges are rebuild-able with kits from MACS, et al. However, new Mustang hinges are much less expensive and new. I need to have the originals blasted as part of the rebuild, so there is an additional cost. Since you asked, here is a photo of the RR lower hinge.

I am a loyal Mustang Steve's customer and former Mustang owner, so don't come down on me too hard. I currently am working on a 1964 Falcon (4 dr., 289-V8, 4 spd.) (Steve's cable clutch pedal assembly is installed), and I would like to know if 1965  Mustang upper or lower hinges will fit the Falcon. I found some old 2009 note on Answers.com that stated that the Mustang hinge is 3/8th inch shorter or smaller. So a no go. I could buy one hinge from National Parts Depot (NPD) and compare it, then return if it is not a fit. Could one of you great Mustang owners provide dimensions, or maybe an old hinge so I can make the comparison? I can pay postage if someone will help. The new NPD repro hinges are not expensive, but the MACS rebuild kits are pretty pricey.

Gentlemen,
I found that I had wired the battery directly to the positive post of the coil. Problem solved. Thanks for all the input. Tommy
