FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » What to get? » 12/29/2015 8:58 PM |
Thanks for all comments everyone. After considering the cost to make the 4.6 fit and mods to the suspension /shock towers, I think I'll just put a 351 in it.

I was at the local pick-a-part today and they just got in a 98 Mercury Grand Marquis. It is complete, I'm considering buying the engine and trans. My question is what can I use off the car (things I need to get with the eng and Trans) and what must I buy aftermarket to use it in a 67 coupe? I'm not looking for a detailed list just some ideas of things I will need. I'm not sure if I will need the wiring and computer from this car or look for a harness and computer out of a 4.6 Mustang. Thanks.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Check this site out the car looks so familiar » 12/20/2015 3:54 PM |
What I could see was split grill (Pontiac), grill surround (71-72 B body Mopar) and from the aerial view a 67-70 Sportsroof. The cameraman needs a good beating and then taught how to use a camera. The camera panning a panel so close you can't see shape, and cutting the top off on the drive by! Strange way to sell a concept.

Can you take some pictures or measurements or ford part numbers of what you have installed? Maybe then we can compare that with what we may have. I have a 6 cyl set off a 67.

Thanks MS, that's what I wanted to hear.

My quick google search indicates E1DC may be about a 1985 LTD and the D4DA about a 1974 Maverick
The E1DC actually came off an early 80s Fairmont with 4 lug disc. I'm concerned about the lack of 7/16-20 ports. I think I read a thread recently that stated that the lack of 7/16 ports means it is a distribution block. They definitely had disc brakes.

This past weekend I went to the local pick-a-part and while there I got two proportioning valves off of disc brake cars. What is confusing is they have no 7/16-20 ports only 3/8-24 ports. Ford part numbers are E1DC-28328-AA and D4DA-28328-AA. What do I have? Thanks
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Oil dipstick tube installed with serp belt brackets. » 11/02/2015 4:37 PM |
Thanks, I'll check both Locar and March to see what they offer. Part of problem might be the Chinese dipstick & tube.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Oil dipstick tube installed with serp belt brackets. » 11/01/2015 3:17 PM |
For those of you running a 5.0 with Serp belt, how did you do it? I drilled my bracket as close as I could get it to the nearest bracket mounting bolt that would interfere with the tube. Of course I had to bend the tube slightly. Now I can't get the dipstick in the tube. Is there another tube I could use? Thanks.

Yes, but about as elusive as a Snipe.
Where are the three vin places? I know of only two.

Thanks guys. The one I'm looking at is manual also, so I will stay away from really wide tires in front.

Does anyone have any experience with the Unisteer R&P? I have the oppertunity to buy a used kit at a very good price and before I spend anything I was wondering what thoughts were on it. Thanks

Its basically what you get when you build a Mutang like a street rod. The dash is not to my taste, nor most of the interior. The engine looks clean. It would be nice to see some pics of under the car. I assume its equally clean and well executed.
Now the "Cobra" logos all over it really piss me off. This car isn't a Cobra, it isn't even a Shelby, and if Carrol didn't bless the use of the name, which we all know he didn't, its basically taking advantage of the fact that he's dead and can't sue you.
But his company can.

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Educate me on Flywheels » 8/25/2015 8:13 PM |
The cheaper ones are cast (iron) in China sometimes machined there too. The upper price range are usually made of steel and maybe have an SFI rating, but even these may be made in China. What I am getting at is the poorer quality of machining, casting (China) would make me nervous with it spinning next to my feet. If I was going with a cast flywheel, for a cruiser only no racing, I would go with a Ford factory flywheel properly rebuilt. If you will race it even occasionaly, go for a SFI rated one by a well known company. That is just my take.

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Mounting a MS Brake Booster » 8/07/2015 2:18 PM |
Below is a couple of pictures of the pedals and booster, seems ashamed to hide them under the dash. I don't think the diagram on this site will work, none of the holes line up with the exception of the upper drivers side that will be the only original hole. I'm going to make a templet off the pedal bracket using the upper drivers side as it is an original hole. Thanks for all the info/tips.

I'll post a picture this afternoon, I have a dental appointment in an hour. I know that the pedal hanger has the same pattern since I have put the two together on the workbench. Do I need any kind of plate to install them? Thanks
