Hi BILLY, I used a hole saw of the correct size to remove the old sockets then cleaned the openings up with a die grinder.

Hi BILLY, I put a vacuum can in my 66 in 04 for the same reason. I got it from Summit for about $50. It came with the check valve mentioned by TKO and has worked great.
Hope this helps. Part # CRN-99590-1

Probably the same engine I have in mine or a derivative. Mine's also a 20HP water cooled Kawasaki. Is yours carb or EFI?
Mine is carb. I bought it second hand. Have you had to replace the "O" ring gaskets in the valve covers yet?

All this battery discussion made me check when I installed the "Super Start" battery in the 66. I bought it in 2004. Makes me curious how long it is going to last. I did buy and carry a jump pack just in case. I does go on a battery tender when the car is parked.

My Fluke meter LED display was having a problem with dead segments. I was able to buy new conductive strips for the display from Amazon and that took care of the problem. I should get another 50 years of service out of it.

I did mine without removing the main door glass. Of course I managed to break a bolt inside the door so it took considerably longer than 3 hours. I'm sure you will have better luck with your project.

Quiet!!! Don’t let Ford know you were able to fix it affordably. If they find out, they will combine the switch with the transmission controller and the left rear turn signal bulb and the right interior door lights and power locks, requiring a $400 switch replacement.
That's probably true. The fix was under $30.

I have been loosing my blower fan speeds slowly on my F 150. I don't really know when I lost #1 but soon I noticed I needed to switch to #3 just to get air flow. A quick Google search found Ford was still using a resistor block in the duct for fan speed control. I got a new part and everything is working again. I was surprised that 50+ year old resistors were what they were still using for speed control.
To make this Mustang related, I had to walk past the 66 to get to my tool box.

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Anybody ever use New Vintage Gauge? » 4/07/2023 10:32 AM |
It did not come with a wiring harness. It was pretty easy to make one though. The gauges were mounted in a new bezel and came with sending units. There was an extra cost for the sender for the speedometer. Shipping was fast and they answered the couple of questions I had. The gauges in my avatar are not the new ones.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
